Alison Busby Photography Full Description
My style of wedding photography is mostly candid, natural moments although I do love to take a little bit of time out with you both on the day to create a few truly unique wedding photos that you’re not going to see from your guests. I use a combination of natural light and photographic lighting to help capture the story of your day. If you’re up for a bit of creativity, we can also work on a few wow shots, particularly at sunset or at early nightfall. I offer three wedding packages - an hourly option for small weddings, a digital only option and an album package. A booking fee of £200 is required to secure my services as wedding photographer for your date; the £200 booking fee is deducted from the total amount due. The balance is payable one month before your wedding day. I often photograph weddings on my own but I also have an excellent network of wedding photographers if you want to have a second photographer for your big day.

Happy couple married in August

Thank you for making us feel so relaxed
Alison shot for our wedding and the photos are lovely - a really fantastic memory of the day and some beautiful shots for us to frame. High res versions were provided on a flash drive. They came very promptly! Alison was well prepared and even came and spent a few hours with us at the church and venue a few months before the wedding to plan shots. Thank you for making us feel so relaxed and for working so hard in the background, Alison.

Alison is very friendly and easy to talk to.
Alison is a fantastic photographer! She is very friendly, easy to talk to and very professional. She had several great ideas from when I first spoke to her, and also suggested so many poses and angles to make our wedding photos look amazing! We are so pleased with our album and I highly recommend her.

We are really pleased with all of our pictures.
Alison did our Wedding photography on 1st September 2018. Alison was great at co-ordinating the group shots and put a lot of effort and care into planning what couple shots we wanted in the lead up to the day. We are really pleased with all of our pictures, thank you very much

Frequently Asked Questions
(10)

What is your most memorable wedding?

My most memorable wedding was my first wedding. Terrifying and satisfying all at the same time.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Intimate, cinematic, contemporary, editorial, vivid

What about your business are you most proud of?

I think I'm really proud that I'm able to create photographs that couples love.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Number 1 wedding tip - for the day of your wedding, in the run-up to the ceremony, surround yourself only with people that make you feel calm and relaxed.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

I don't think I have one.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

On your wedding day, I try to arrive a little earlier than planned, particularly if you’re getting ready at your wedding venue. This gives me a chance to find the wedding planner and take some photos around the venue, and in the ceremony and reception rooms before guests start arriving. If you’ve included bridal prep/getting ready photos in your package, I’ll come to your room at the agreed time. I tend to work fairly quietly in the background, just capturing what’s going on; and that’s mostly what I’ll do for your whole day. If there are particular details or moments you want me to photograph, you can always let me know. The only part of the day I don’t photograph is people eating – I’ll photograph your arrival for the wedding breakfast and be back for the speeches but I don’t photograph the bit in-between. In the run-up to your wedding, we’ll agree an outline plan of your photography coverage; I find this helps to keep to the running order of the day, makes the venue happy and ensures you get what you want from your wedding photography. We’ll also agree any group shots in advance and I’ll ask you to delegate the task of finding guests (for those group photos) to two members of your bridal party so you can just relax and enjoy the day. When it comes to wow shots, like sunset and night portraits, I’ll setup the shots on my own, then I’ll call you in at the last minute so you’re not away from your guests for too long. Unless you’ve paid for additional hours, I usually begin packing up about 10 minutes after the first dance.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

I don't think there is a shot that every couple should take. With every couple I photograph, I look for what suits them and makes them look perfect.

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

I think the most original photo I've been asked to take was a levitation shot with helium balloons.

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Matching umbrellas for bridal party and a willingness to get wet.

Describe how you got into photography.

I was working in marketing and my husband was a semi-pro musician. I thought I could help him promote his band if I was a better photographer. I took an undergraduate course in photography and started photographing live music. I was asked to photograph the wedding of a local musician and it snowballed from there.
