What is your most memorable wedding?
Naturally there is something special about every wedding we have performed at, however there are a couple of outliers! Performing on the beautiful Osea Island (a tidal island), accessed initially by boat, and then waiting for the tide to go out for a taxi was definitely interesting! The Roman Baths in Bath was also an incredible venue to perform at!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
We are fun, suave, professional, endearing and musically fabulous!
What about your business are you most proud of?
I'm most proud of the joy and fun we consistently inject into people's weddings. The Ukulele is a remarkable instrument, and it's a pleasure to play it and present it to guests, and add something unique to our clients' big day!
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Don't be afraid to ask your suppliers for advice about their specialty. We're very aware this is likely the first time you're organising an event of this scale of any nature, so we can be on hand to provide insight and ideas on how you can achieve your vision, or even open doors to additional ideas you may not have been aware of! We want to make sure you get value for money, and have the best experience from start to finish, so please make use of us!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
We've seen some lovely personal touches, including brides/grooms getting up to sing with us, or requesting specific versions of songs for their first dance which they've choreographed. One thing that really stands out was one wedding ceremony having an owl fly down the aisle to present the rings!
Describe your typical process with a couple.
Firstly, thank you for choosing us and trusting us with a small part of your big day! We'll spend time getting to understand your vision for the day and identifying how we fit within it. We'll identify any practical considerations that you may be unaware of and navigate through those. We'll get a feel for the sort of songs and music you like, and ask you to let us know what you like and don't like from a 150+ song list. Song requests are very welcome, so we'll ask for those and learn them in readiness to perform them flawlessly on the day! We'll take contact details for important parties on the day, ask for a copy of the schedule, and look forward to seeing you there!
What makes a romantic first dance?
First dances are incredibly personal, and they don't always have to be romantic. Some of the best first dances are more tongue-in-cheek, or something that's incredibly personal to a couple (that could also happen to be an uptempo heavy rock song!). Some first dances can start as one particular song, and then move into another so you have a romantic slow dance, and then draw guests to the 'floor once the new tune gets everyone in the groove. The most important thing is to make it your own, and unashamedly so! Also, don't worry if you don't want one, either - no one says you have to have one, and we can take care of getting everyone on the dance floor and having a good time!
What is your number one floor-filler?
Mr. Brightside is always a strong candidate for this, however anything that has an anthemic chorus is a winner - things like Dakota (Stereophonics), Don't Look Back in Anger (Oasis), All the Small Things (Blink 182), and Sex on Fire (Kings of Leon) are generally saved to end the night!
Which band from the past would you most like to have been part of?
I would have loved to have been in Led Zeppelin! Music and technology were moving through a fantastic age, and it was a hot bed of creativity, paving the way for much of the music we still listen to and love today!
What is the soundtrack to your life?
There are various albums that really resonate with me and take me back to various times of my life, so it's nice to always revisit those (O by Damien Rice, Parachutes by Coldplay, OK Computer by Radiohead, Crystal Planet by Joe Satriani, Grace by Jeff Buckley and more). Nowadays the soundtrack is more often spa music, as I like to try and relax as I do my admin!
