What is your most memorable wedding?
We were booked by a Groom (Carl) as a surprise for his wife to be (Genna), and he had told her that we were unavailable for her wedding date. On the wedding day at Claydon House in Buckinghamshire, she started walking down the aisle and when she heard us playing, she burst into tears. It nearly set me off too and I only just managed to hold it together enough to finish singing 'Songbird' for her. She sent us a beautiful thank you card afterwards and told us we were "one of her most cherished memories".
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Sophisticated, Stylish, Dedicated, Professional and Friendly
What about your business are you most proud of?
Taking a 'Leap Of Faith' when we started Taylormade back in 2008. Matt and I both quit our day jobs to follow our dream of being professional musicians. We had nothing for a long time but, slowly and surely, we became established and now the hundreds of reviews and recommendations we've received mean we are well and truly on our way! We know we have the best job in the world and I'm so proud that we took that chance!
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Make sure you meet your wedding suppllier and see their products/service before you commit to booking. For example, head along to one of our Public Showcases where you can see, hear and experience Taylormade live and what we will be like on the day. That way you can have absolute peace of mind in your decision and not feel stressed or anxious leading up to the big day. Please contact us to find out the date for our next Public Showcase.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
I must admit that I think Matt went all out at our own wedding in Cuba back in 2010. As he wasn't able to play the guitar on his own wedding day, he recorded a beautiful version of The Wedding March by Mendelssohn's on his acoustic guitar for me and I walked up the aisle to himknowing that he had recorded that for this exact moment.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
Couples will usually fill in our contact form and we get back to them within 24 hours with our availability and a quote. I also include the dates of our next showcases to see if the couple are interested in coming along. Once the couple have confirmed they would like to go ahead, I put a formal booking agreement together outlining everything that has been spoken about, and this gives the couple peace of mind leading up to the big day (something that we really appreciated when we were planning our own wedding). We ask for a 20% deposit to secure the date and the remaining amount is due just before the wedding. About a week before we have an in depth discussion about the final details - timings, song choices, colour theme, requests etc. Then we turn up on the day and do what we so best! Add a stunning soundtrack to the day as chosen by the Bride and Groom.
What makes a romantic first dance?
A beautiful song with gorgeous lyrics, a great live performance but most importantly staring into each others eyes and feeling like you are the only people in the room.
What is your number one floor-filler?
Well, our acoustic duo plays mostly at Ceremonies and Drinks Reception so i'd have the say the most popular song to walk down the aisle is 'Songbird' by Eva Cassidy.
Our number one floor-filler with the 4 Piece Live Band would be Mr Brightside by The Killers. Never fails to get people on the dance floor!
Which band from the past would you most like to have been part of?
Too many to answer!
What is the soundtrack to your life?
Our original band called Silverspark. All of our songs are written from the heart so are true to what's going on in our lives at that moment in time. You can listen to Silverspark here https://open.spotify.com/artist/5UQnSGwusVvHweXwHxUzpU
