What is your most memorable wedding?
ALL our weddings are memorable, our interaction with your guests and their crazy dance moves from full on the floor air guitar to a guest breaking one of my tambourines from hitting their own head with it, to a bride singing a whole song on stage with us, just when we think we have seen it all ......
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Organised, professional, funny, fun, sharp
What about your business are you most proud of?
We drove to Toulouse in South of France for our furthest away wedding with all the gear, it was beautiful.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Book your band early, the longer you leave it the less time they will have to prepare and gig your bespoke set list in advance of your day. Book at least 6 months in advance to enjoy the very best band giving their very best performance.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
Flowers arranged in motorbike engine parts on the tables for a biker couple, cheese and biscuits arranged on a 5 ft mirror, a bride in full on rock pose on my microphone with her wedding dress on entertaining her own guests, to name but a few.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
From first contact via email or phone, I find out what our B & G want musically- length of performance, venue, number of guests then quote them a price. When the price is agreed, we take a low deposit of £150 & clients sign our contract & return it, we then send out a receipt for the deposit, book their special day in our gig diary. We send out our full song catalogue around 6 months before and our couples help choose the music including their first dance, which we then rehearse and gig live to iron out any kinks. We are available on email and telephone for any questions either by the venue or the couple. Approx two months before we send our PAT test and Insurance certification on email to the venue if required. We take payment of the balance anything up to 14 days in advance of your wedding. On the wedding day the entertainment comprises a third of your day, it's essential you have experienced musicians to take your guests on that journey with us to give you the best possible service Subway Band can.
What makes a romantic first dance?
We believe that you can make any dance romantic, our most unusual request was Baby D - Let me be your fantasy - the bride and groom met at a club and danced for the first time ever to this tune. Subway Band slowed the start right down while our couple smooched ending with normal clubbing speed & everyone joining in on the floor. It is whatever music which is special to our bride and groom although we do have tons of suggestions if you are stuck.
What is your number one floor-filler?
From the modern tunes Uptown Funk, from the 50's Johnny B Good - Subway have lots of them from all eras and probably ending with New York New York or Don't Stop Believing for a fabulous ending to a brilliant day.
Which band from the past would you most like to have been part of?
The Beatles
