They are sensational
We have seen Smooth Duo many times at Warner hotels they are sensational, the velvety tones of Susie are exquisite and very relaxing, while the very talented musician Andy is amazing. Smooth Duo are the main reason we go to Warner we all love them so much. My dad who is 88 loves to dance to their music if you have the chance to see them don’t hesitate to go, I know they perform at weddings and other celebrations and would not hesitate to book them. They have brought my husband, me and my parents much pleasure.

Create a warm and unobtrusive atmosphere...
What amazingly talented artists Smooth Duo are. Professional, versatile and smooth, as the name suggests. I would highly recommend them for weddings and events where you would like to create a warm and unobtrusive atmosphere.

Perfect for weddings...
I cannot recommend Smooth Duo highly enough. They have the ability to create a wonderful non-invasive atmosphere with their broad repertoire of jazz classics and re-worked favourites. Susie’s honeyed vocals are so perfect that they give you a warm glow inside and Andy is truly a maestro with his array of instruments. Perfect for weddings and similar events or as an accompaniment to a good relaxing meal with friends or someone special.

Review by the UK's leading musicians website.
We love the fact that Smooth Duo have truly embraced their USP (unique selling point). Their music is all about creating an atmosphere – the perfect background music. The flexibility of Andy being a multi-instrumentalist means that each song has a great variety in its arrangement, while still keeping to the overall theme of being chilled out and relaxed. Susie’s voice is simply flawless for the style of music they perform and, when they play together, it becomes a style of music you could literally enjoy all afternoon. Smooth Duo offer quite specific advice on the events that they will be perfect for, and we love how refreshingly honest they are. It means that every potential client gets a true insight into what events they will be best for – “If you want live music but not a loud disco or dance band – we are the perfect choice”. Their style is brilliant for any public event in a lounge, restaurant or bistro, and they offer tailored sets private events, like dinner shows, drinks receptions, wedding breakfasts/dinners, cocktails/meet & greets etc.

FAQ

What is your most memorable wedding?

All of them are special.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Classy, cool, relaxed, smooth, professional.

What about your business are you most proud of?

That we give excellent quality for a fair price.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Allow us to help take the stress away. We have played at hundreds of events and are here to help your Wedding go smoothly.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

One wedding, in a marquee, was set out for an afternoon tea type reception and the Bride and her Mum had spent ages sourcing china teacups & saucers, tiered cakestands which were all different coloured patterns, but looked so very pretty. They had also handmade and handpainted the placecards.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

The first approach is usually via email to establish the date of the Wedding and our availability and price. The fee depends on how many sets of music are required and whether we need to add on fuel costs. Then we progress to chatting on the phone. If the venue is local to us [Mansfield] we can usually meet the couple at their chosen venue to discuss where we will be setting up to play and get an idea of the intended timetable. If the venue is not local, and visiting it before hand is not feasible, we will go through everything with the couple via email and telephone. This ensures everyone knows what is happening on the day. We then send a contract requesting a deposit. This secures the booking and the balance of payment is due on the day. A short while before the Wedding we contact the couple to confirm all the details.

What makes a romantic first dance?

As we play for the meet and greet or dinner part of the Wedding, we are not usually asked to be involved in songs for dancing. Most of the songs in our repertoire have lyrics about love.

What is your number one floor-filler?

We play music for dinner, canapes or drinks receptions, not for dancing. So we are mainly live background music and ambience rather than dancing. But we have two 'signature' songs, really. One is 'Fever' and the other is 'Smooth Operator.'
