Jemima & The Five are a female-fronted, six-piece Pop, Funk & Soul covers band based in Dorset, bringing upbeat, feel-good live music to weddings and dancefloors across Dorset, Hampshire and the South Coast.
We're a six piece band as standard; why? Because that's how our music sounds it's best! No stripped-back line-ups, no paid add-ons to get the "full" band, no backing tracks filling in the gaps. Just six genuinely talented musicians comprising of female vocals, a tight rhythm section and our signature saxophone, all playing every single note live, every time. What you hear at your event is exactly what you booked: real experienced musicians, playing the songs live, how they were meant to sound!
That sax is what sets us apart from most wedding and function bands. It's the difference between a good cover band and a band that makes a room move. Add our soulful female vocalist singing a set built on the songs everyone actually wants to hear, think Stevie Wonder, Bruno Mars, Amy Winehouse, Earth, Wind & Fire, Lionel Richie and more — and you've got a performance that pulls everyone onto the dance floor, all night long.

When should we book?
Wedding dates fill up quickly, especially peak summer months (May-September). We recommend booking 12-18 months in advance for peak season, though we often have availability for dates within a few months, so it's always worth checking even if your wedding is coming up soon!
Can you learn our first dance song?
Absolutely! We love learning new songs and will work hard to deliver a beautiful version of your chosen song. We will endeavour to learn whichever song you choose, however it may not always be possible to play it and in which case we will play a recording instead.
What if your first dance song is unusual? We'll give it our best shot! We're experienced musicians who can learn most songs. If it's particularly complex or outside our style, we'll let you know honestly and may suggest alternatives.
How far do you travel?
We're happy to travel throughout Dorset and into neighbouring counties including Hampshire, Wiltshire, and Somerset. For weddings further afield, please get in touch and we can discuss options.
Do you provide a setlist in advance?
We can provide a sample setlists of typical songs that we play, but we generally tailor our setlist to suit the event and if you have any particular preferences. We will play a mix of well known crowd favourites to keep the dance floor full!
Let us know if there are any songs you'd prefer we avoid, and we'll make sure they don't make it into our set.
How long do you perform?
Our standard package includes 2 x 45-minute sets, which includes a 30 minute break (we can play a playlist during our break). We can also provide extended performances if needed such as 2 x 1-hour sets or 3 x 45-minute sets. Just let us know with your enquiry and we can quote accordingly.
