What is your most memorable wedding?
there are quite a few but the main ones are the weddings where the playlist comes in and I get a little excited seeing the songs that are picked. As a music lover myself I enjoy the aspect of the varied music styles....and the weddings I go round the back of the dance floor and see no one sitting down and realise every single person is up dancing.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Professional, experienced, fun, passionate, caring
What about your business are you most proud of?
when I look at the back of the dance floor and no one is sitting down.....everyone is on the dance floor.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
don't panic keep calm and sit down with a pen and paper and go through slowly and logically what and who you need in order of importance. check out any suppliers carefully via websites and facebook etc and talk to them. It doesn't matter if its via email, phone or face to face.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
As a dj it has to be personalised first dances. I have had couples make up a 'mixtape' with a song made from bits of various songs and having a tailored first dance....but generally some of the different table plans are sometimes very clever and well thought out.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
it normally starts with an email to get the basic details then goes onto a pre-wedding meeting. This is to ensure we 'get on' as I will be spending a large amount of time during the day so every couple has to know and like the suppliers. This goes onto invoice and payments discussion. I am available all the while for any questions the couple has or if they want to meet for another chat nearer the day.
What makes a romantic first dance?
the first dance is just romantic...it doesn't matter if the couple shuffle around awkwardly or have a pre-planned dance routine everyone in the room always feels the romance and love between the bride and Groom.
What is your number one floor-filler?
Every crowd is different. I pride myself on not having a 'set playlist' like many other djs but I work to the crowd and have been told I'm good at reading the crowd and what they want. I encourage requests and anyone can come up, say hello and ask for any songs they want. Even after years of running events I still get surprised at some of the more odd requests that fill a dance floor.
Which band from the past would you most like to have been part of?
personally im first and foremost a music lover and have always been into my music since i was a child and before i got int weddings and events. I even played in a band myself for a few years playing guitar so its almost an impossible answer or it would be too many bands to list. From a historical point of view a band like the beatles or rolling stones. From a personal point of view probably The Clash and more recently there are quite a few bands that i like in the charts that i would like to join in.
What is the soundtrack to your life?
It would start with Rock'n'Roll as thats what i was brought up on by my parents and work its way through the decades. I like my live music and i do have a preference for rockier guitar type music. There will always be room for cheesier and some dance music in there.
