Bartlett & Butcher Full Description
Bartlett & Butcher specialise in attention to detail and piece of mind. With on-site laundry, dry-cleaning and tailoring, you can be confident that your hire-wear is in peak condition and fits you impeccably. For the groom who is looking for a lasting memento of his day, we have a number of options, such as purchasing your wedding suit, either of-the-peg or customised (where we can hire the same style to the rest of the party) or fully bespoke neckwear. We carry a wide range of styles and colours of waistcoat and neckwear, and we stock high-quality suiting ranging from the traditional through contemporary, including some statement pieces for the confident groom who wishes to stand out. Every couple is encouraged to come in for a pre-wedding consultation, where our friendly staff will discuss their requirements and offer advice. To ensure perfect fit on the day, we recommend that all members of the groom's party come in for a professional fitting. While we can accept measurements over the telephone, nothing compares to actually trying on the clothes that you are going to be wearing on the day. To ensure (the bride's!) piece of mind, all orders are ready for collection two working days before the event. This means that by the day of the ceremony, you can be confident that you have everything and that it all fits.

Personal Message from the Manager

Name of Wedding Contact: Hannah
Congratulations on your engagement! We would recommend starting to think about the menswear as soon as you have decided on a colour scheme, browse some different suppliers about a year before your wedding, then book an appointment with me about six months before you get married.

Avoid at all costs
Avoid at all costs...Initial contact (Hannah) with this company was good and we placed an order for our wedding suit hire. We went in three months before for our measuring and thankfully we asked to see the suit we had chosen again, we were presented with a suit which was completely different to what we had ordered. We where then told at this point Hannah, who we had dealt with before had left and therefore they were no longer doing the suit we chose. A very rude man who I believe was the owner said that we had to have the suit he was showing us and that we had no choice. If we hadn't of asked to see it, I do not believe he would have told us! After a number of weeks we finally got a refund of our deposit but that took much work and many insults from a rude owner. Would never recommend this store.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

Being asked to dress the groom's party on the day, as the Bride doesn't trust them, always makes for a memorable day!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Traditional, Contemporary, Wacky, Relaxed, Fun

What about your business are you most proud of?

The quality of what we do.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Make sure that you have a contingency fund for your budget - with so much to think about, sometimes something small can escape you!

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

One of our grooms had us make up silk cravats for his groomsmen - he had the wedding colour on one side, then a different colour on the other side so that they could wear them for different occasions.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

We start with a no-obligation consultation, which can take anything up to an hour and a half. This allows us to get to know the couple a bit, put the groom at ease (because we all know how much men like dressing up!), then we try a number of different outfits on the groom until he gets that "tingle." Once they have booked with us, we like to see everyone for their fittings around two months before the wedding, although that is two weeks for page boys! We find that this gives us the best balance of getting people with stable weights, while allowing us to make any alterations to the outfits that are needed.

What are your favourite wedding traditions for men?

We're a little old fashioned - we think that the first time that the Groom should see "The Dress" is when the Bride is standing next to him at the ceremony!

What is the best way to make the groomsmen stand out from the crowd?

Tails, every time!

Why is groomswear just as important as bridalwear?

Everyone knows that the bride is going to look like an absolute Princess - the Groom can not be standing next to her looking like a sack of spuds!

What is the most original outfit you have seen a groom wear?

A Full Highland Outfit, with Royal Blue "motorcycle" boots!
