At The Flower Shop we pride ourselves on getting to know our brides and grooms and offering them a one to one service. Your wedding isn't just a day to us, we only want to create the very best and make your visions come to life, so you will remember them forever. It doesn't matter to us if your wedding is big or small, bouquets only or large archways and urn arrangements we are happy to help and care deeply about each and every wedding we do. Our process; We offer a free consultation, where we can sit down with a nice cup of tea and go through all your needs. Not to worry if you don't know what you would like - We can help come up with some ideas and suggestions to fit the style, colour scheme or theme of your wedding. Once you are happy with what we have discussed, we will send you an itemised quotation with each item described and priced, so you can see clearly what's costing what. We also know every wedding has a budget - So we are always happy to go back through and rethink ideas if needed. A wedding is always changing as you plan it and we know that no wedding quotation will stay the same - so we are always on hand for you to pop us an email, give us a call or pop in and see us if you need to change anything or simply ask a question. On The Day; We know the morning of the wedding are busy for everyone, so we always like to take the stress of collecting the flower out of the equation. On the day itself we will deliver all the bridal flowers to you, along with any buttonholes you may need to a place and time convenient to you. Next stop - The groom, where we will show him and his groomsmen how to attach the buttonholes Then, onto the venue where we will dress the tables and decorate the venue as you have requested.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

In truth it would be the punk rock wedding we did last year. The bride was in a red wedding dress with a leather jacket. The bride left the flower design to us and we ha great fun sourcing miniature skulls to add to her bouquet and tiny guitars to add to the buttonhole. It was so different unique but so true and personal to the bride and groom.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Country, seasonal, fresh, unique, elegant

What about your business are you most proud of?

To be honest the proudest moment for us is when we hand our brides their bouquets and see the delight on their face. We often get tears and huge hugs too!

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Don't be afraid to have what you want. If you have fallen in love with a flower or a bouquet, which is a little over your budget, make sure the bride and groom have what they really want and make cut backs to other areas of the flowers, such as the table centres. A small cut back on these can soon free up the money to have what you have dreamt of.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

We have seen so many wonderful little touches added to weddings. I would say one of my favourites would be the Polaroid table plan. The couple had taken a funny or silly Polaroid picture of each guest and strung it up like bunting around the room. Whilst people were having their welcome drinks they were all looking and laughing at peoples photos and trying to spot theirs so they could see which table they were on as it was written at the bottom.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Our process is to get to know our couples and build a bond. This way we get to know your likes and dislikes and you get to know us and trust us to make your day special in any way we can. Also, you then can feel like you can contact us at any time and ask any questions you need. Our process isn't to tie you down into an agreement sometimes years before your wedding, we always make it clear that you can make any changes - as big or small as you need, whenever you need. All we ask is for everything to be confirmed two weeks before the big day!

What is the most interesting thing you have put in a bouquet?

I would have to say a stem of broccoli. The bride's mother had joked that the bride knew so little about flowers she could walk down the aisle with a stem of broccoli and she wouldn't know the difference. So as a surprise to her mum, she asked us to add small stems of broccoli into her bouquet. You have never seen a mother of the bride laugh so much on the morning of the wedding. Surprisingly, surrounded by the other flowers, it actually looked really lovely!

Is there a flower that has specific symbolism that you would recommend for couples?

I think Roses would be one - There is different meanings for each coloured rose, Red for love, pink for friendship, white for trust. Each of these meanings are so important to a marriage.

What is the most romantic flower and why?

I think whatever flower is romantic to you. It may be the first flowers he ever sent you were Roses, or even Gerbera... I think that's what makes flowers romantic, their story to you.

What should you do with the flowers after the wedding?

I often advise brides to have a spare vase of water next to the cake so you can leave it there after the photographs are finished. This way the flowers are still looking healthy the next morning when you decide what to do with it. Many of my brides in the past have sent theirs away to be preserved and framed so they can keep it forever. Others have taken it to a loved ones grave so they can be part of the wedding even though they are no longer with you.
