The Flower Man

They are all so individual and special but one that always sticks out in our minds was for Roxy and Cal who had to postpone their wedding 3 times due to the Covid lockdowns. When we finally got to the date we were all in tears when we took her flowers to the Bridal Suite!

We've had a few interesting themes to incorporate such is 'Lilo and Stitch', a Veggie patch, Halloween, Christmas Fairytales and these are always exciting as we get to use our imaginations and be really creative with the flowers and plants that we use.

We worked with a couple who had their pet pooch as the Best Man, it was very fun to create a 'Collar Corsage' for him!

We start with a meeting, face to face if possible so that the couple can see our Flower Room and meet us all. If not, Zoom and Teams videos are good too. Once we have some ideas about what they are thinking of we will talk about any meaningful flowers that they would like to be incorporated. For couples who have not had chance to think much about what they want yet, we go through a list of ideas and styles depending on the logistics of their day so that they can start to imagine where different arrangements could be placed and re-purposed. From there we will create an initial quote with a break down of the individual costs per item so that the couple can go through and tailor it to their budget. If they would like to go ahead we do ask for a small booking fee and the final balance shortly before the wedding date. About 2-3 weeks before we will get back in touch to double check what has been decided but usually we remain in contact before that anyway and will always welcome a second visit or meeting at the venue if there are any big floral installations required.

We have incorporated personal items such as charms or jewellery that have sentimental meaning to the family. It is always a real honour to be trusted to keep them safe and use them for such an emotional occasion.

Honestly, I think it is up to the couple. There are many flowers that have symbolic meaning but for a weddings it is more personal to include ones that have memories or emotions for the couple such as family favourites, flowers from the first bouquet that your fiancé bought for you, or special flowers from loved ones who may no longer be with us.

I'm going to say Daffodil, because my Dad always used to buy them for my Mum as soon as they came into season. But the answer will be different for everyone, which is why we love our jobs because we get to find out what is special to our couples.

There are so many creative ways to preserve your flowers now such as preserving as a whole to having them dried and made into jewellery or furniture. I took mine to the resting place of family members who had passed on which was a lovely way to remember them and include them in our special day.
