What is your most memorable wedding?
Every wedding is so memorable and special in its own right it is so hard to pick one. During 2020 we have been able to support a small number of couples to hold beautiful intimate weddings in light of the Covid situation and these have felt particularly special due to the circumstances.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Natural, Whimsical, Abundant, Seasonal, Luxury
What about your business are you most proud of?
I am so proud to be making the use of eco friendly floristry techniques a high priority in my business.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Be open and honest with your suppliers, they can't see your vision or support you to achieve this if you do not share the details with them.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
One couple planted a tree to mark their special day which was such a beautiful touch and sits wonderfully with out sustainable ethos.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
After first contact from a couple I ask for some more information about their event and style. We then arrange a consultation where the real planning can start. From here I put together a working document and mood board to reflect the floral design for the day. We then consult again about this document to ensure that it meets the expectations of the couple. Around 3 months prior to the event we conduct a site visit if one is needed. 8-12 weeks prior to the event we finalise all of the details with the couple and then the real planning and flowering for the big day begins.
What is the most interesting thing you have put in a bouquet?
I love putting dried elements into bouquets including grasses and dried flowers. Herbs make a beautiful and fragrant full foliage. I also love it when I am asked to include personal touches to the bouquet such as charms and photos to remember those special people to the couple.
Is there a flower that has specific symbolism that you would recommend for couples?
I love exploring the meaning of flowers however, these days I think it is more important that couples choose flowers which hold some significance to them. It might be something from the first bouquet your loved one brought for you or a colour of choice, or even something that you grow at home. I believe that flowers should reflect the personality of the couple.
What is the most romantic flower and why?
For me it has to be the rose. I love the huge variety of them and at some point we have all given or received a rose as a gesture of love and affection.
What should you do with the flowers after the wedding?
The choices are endless! I have seen some wonderfully preserved bouquets which have been turned into coasters and pictures. I know of brides who have given their bouquet to someone special or at a place of rest. However, one of my favourite things is when the bride throws the bouquet for those at the wedding.
