Joanne Truby Floral Design Full Description
We are lucky enough to work on all sorts of interesting briefs and go to great lengths to meet each and every clients brief in an innovative and creative way. From collecting sea shells on the beach for a nautical themed wedding to trailing antique shops looking for the perfect vintage brooch to add the finish touch to your bridal bouquet each job is carried out with love and care. We source our petals from New Covent Garden flower market as they have the highest quality and a vast array of flowers available. We also strongly support British grown flowers and get these from our trusted supplier based in Cornwall. We’re always on the hunt for wonderful containers and props (looking for treasure as we call it) so each one of our floral creations is a one off. We’ve had the pleasure of working at some of the countries leading wedding venues including Eastwell Manor, Fulham Palace, Knowlton Court, Hampton Court House, Addington Palace and Botley’s Mansion. We embrace working on interesting projects and are equally as happy decorating a blank canvas marquee, tipi or rustic barn to embellishing a grand ballroom with our designs. In 2013 Joanne Truby Floral Design were shortlist for the Hitched break through awards and was a regional finalist in the 2016 Wedding Industry Awards. Since then our work has graced the pages of a number of leading Bridal magazines including Wedding Flowers, You & Your Wedding, Wedding Ideas and Perfect Wedding. When we’re not busy working with flowers we love to write about them (can you tell we really LOVE flowers!) we’ve guest blogged for a number of leading wedding blogs offering everything from tips and tricks on creating unusual floral ideas to working with seasonal flowers. You can read our regular floral musings over on our blog.

Most amazing flowers!
Joanne, I just wanted to reach out again and say thank you for the spectacular flowers on our wedding day on 13 August!!! As you were aware, we didn’t have much creative vision but you took what little brief you had and made some that honestly blew me away! When we went into the marquee and saw the centre pieces I was so emotional and overwhelmed with how amazing they were. They were honestly one of my top highlights of the day. You are so talented and we are very grateful for the epic display you provided! I also wanted to say well done for keeping them alive and looking so good all day which cannot have been easy in that heat, we even managed to preserve some to take home including my bouquet! We would highly recommend you to anyone who wants truly creative, beautiful flower displays and a simple carefree approach to planning which took all the stress away from us. Thank you again The Mistry’s (13 August 2022)

The most gorgeous flower arrangements I've ever seen!
Seeing Joanne's prior work online and the Pinterest inspiration board she put together, I had no doubt when I picked Joanne that she would do a great job. However, I was blown away by every single flower arrangement she did for my wedding! Her work completely elevated the venue and really set the vibe for the whole wedding. During the ceremony, I was constantly pleasantly overwhelmed by how beautiful the venue smelled due to all the flower arrangements. I'm so thankful I have pictures to forever document Joanne's gorgeous work!

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

This is a hard one as there have been so many! Two spring to mine from last year, one was at one of my most favourite London venues the Kensington Roof Gardens where we created an installation of individual hanging flowers which was awesome! The other was at the stunning St Clere Estate in Kent followed by a marquee reception in the ground of the brides parents garden. We created bespoke centre pieces made up of moss platforms and gold vessels with a hanging flower chandelier.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Natural, Abundant, Textural, Colourful, original.

What about your business are you most proud of?

This is hard to answer as there are so many! Being featured on the front cover of Perfect Wedding magazine for four consecutive months in a row is pretty special a long with recently being on Flowerona's top 100 list of florists to follow on Instagram. Most of all though it has to be making our couples days that extra special with our floral creations.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Don't get to bogged down with Pinterest, yes it's good for inspiration but choose to work with wedding suppliers who's work you love & trust them to create something that is truly unique to you.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

One of our brides had her brother and sister in law sing their first dance song which I thought was pretty special.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

We have an initial consultation (however this to me sounds rather formal so I would prefer to say a chat over a cup of tea) with all of our couples and clients. We take great care to get to know you, your likes, interests and the type of wedding day you envisage. This is followed by a site visit to your venue to get a real feel for the surroundings and see what designs would work in the space. From here we then start creating your designs (as you may have guessed we LOVE doing this for you). We put together your online Pinterest mood board which we send you along with your detailed brief that captures the feel and style you would like to create.

What is the most interesting thing you have put in a bouquet?

We love working with unusual flower varieties and creating interesting textures within our designs, most recently our bouquets have included succulents, pin cushion flowers and even mini pineapples!

Is there a flower that has specific symbolism that you would recommend for couples?

Roses are associated with love and beauty and Anemone has a meaning of sincerity and unfading love.

What is the most romantic flower and why?

Garden roses and peonies to me are always so romantic and feminine with their beautiful blousy petals and they come in such an array of romantic colours in different shades of soft pinks and peaches.

What should you do with the flowers after the wedding?

I always suggest giving the flowers away as gifts to family and friends. If you are keen to preserve your bridal bouquet I would suggest making arrangements for this before hand with a company who specialise in this as if left until after the wedding it may be to late as they tend to need the bouquet as soon as possible so the flowers are still in good condition to start the process.
