Hannah Martin Flowers Full Description
I have one wish – to pioneer beautiful and elegant floristry using stunning blooms to create simple enchanting designs. Based in Walton-on-Thames, working from my ‘small but perfectly formed’ workshop overlooking the River Thames, I use inspiration from the nature that surrounds me within all my creations. After pursuing a short but invaluable career in destination marketing, I couldn’t resist the call to follow my dreams and pursue my passions and become a florist. The seed was planted at an early age by my beloved Gran, who’s love of flowers and flower arranging (albeit for the Women’s Institute!) rubbed off on me along with her tireless unbounded creativity. Starting as a delivery driver for Royal florist Moyses Stevens, quickly stepping up the ladder to manage one of their shops, this experience resulted in an amazing six year career at leading fashionable florist, McQueens, as Events Manager. This wonderful opportunity allowed me to venture into the celebrity world on many occasions as well as working with hundreds of couples to provide flowers for their special day. Working together with some of the most talented florists and floral artists in the country, I have built up my creative portfolio to suit any occasion and need. I truly love my job, and I would love you to be part of it!

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

My first wedding as a new business. I was so nervous! The family were wonderful and we used cherry blossom everywhere - during the ceremony, on the tables, in arches, in the personal flowers - and it was absolutely beautiful. I recently found the photos from this wedding on my computer, and even now over ten years later, they took my breathe away!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Natural. Seasonal. Abundant. Fresh. Elegant.

What about your business are you most proud of?

Surviving! The pandemic was a tough time, but we're still here and we're stronger than ever...plus we love our job even more now.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Be real to yourselves, don't get taken in by images on Pinterest or in magazines as you know your style and what you'd like for your wedding so trust your insticts.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

I quite often attach a mini photo frame, which includes a picture of a lost loved one, to the bridal bouquet which is really special.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

I always love to meet my couples, but sometimes this isn't possible. In this case, a call or video call is great and a good alternative. After this time, I put together a proposal which includes prices and images and we go from there.

Is there a flower that has specific symbolism that you would recommend for couples?

I love using herbs, and rosemary symbolises fidelity, loyalty and remembrance which makes it extra special.

What is the most romantic flower and why?

A beautiful, blowsy garden rose or peony because of their scent which then acts as a great reminder of the special day.

What should you do with the flowers after the wedding?

A few of my brides have professionally preserved their bouquets, or set them in resin or glass, which is a lovely idea. The larger arrangements and table centres make great presents or they can be used the day after at a barbecue or breakfast after party.
