What is your most memorable wedding?
My first wedding. I had the privilege of creating my parents wedding flowers. We are a family business, so to start with a family wedding was perfect.
What about your business are you most proud of?
We build genuine connections with our couples, and still stay in touch with many of them. One of our Bride's announced their pregnancy using their wedding flowers.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Work out your needs and wants. This will help you to make sure that you can work to your budget, prioritising your needs, and with any left over budget you can go for your wants.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
Memory buttonholes. It is such a beautiful way to remember lost loved ones at weddings.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
Our usual process is that we start with collecting inspiration images from our couple and building a mini portfolio for their wedding. We then proceed to have a consultation, either in person or virtually, going over everything they want for their big day. After consultation we send a quote, with everything we have gone over during the consultation, we work together to make sure that this is exactly what the couple wants and are happy with. Once our couple are completely happy we send a contract and deposit is paid. The remainder is due one month before the wedding, and we deliver and set up on the day.
We do offer the option to order without consultation if this suits our couples more.
What is the most interesting thing you have put in a bouquet?
Something old - a late grandmother's broach. Something New - pearl pins in the roses. Something borrowed - a grandmother's wedding band. Something blue - a piece of blue ribbon from the mother's original wedding outfit.
This was so beautifully thought out to include all of the elements of the rhyme. The Bride did also have a sixpence in her shoe.
Is there a flower that has specific symbolism that you would recommend for couples?
Stock. It has a beautiful scent, and one of our strongest memory triggers is our sense of smell. This would result in every time the couple smell its floral aroma, they would be taken back to their wedding day.
What is the most romantic flower and why?
The garden rose. It has all the beautiful symbolism of a rose, but with the most gorgeous scent.
What should you do with the flowers after the wedding?
This is entirely up to the couple. Some give them as gifts to their guests, some preserve them to keep forever, some keep them to enjoy in their homes, some request we collect and donate to local hospices and care homes.
There is no wrong answer to this question, and it all depends on the couple and what they would want to do with their flowers.
