Live Painting
Pre-Wedding Consultation
Tom Yeadon Art Full Description

I create joyful, personal wedding paintings that capture the atmosphere of your day, not just how it looked, but how it felt.

You can choose to have your painting created live at your wedding, giving your guests the opportunity to watch it develop throughout the celebration. Alternatively, I can create a detailed painting after the event using your professional photographs.

For live wedding painting, I arrive before the key moment to set up and begin painting the venue and background. I then work throughout the day, adding the couple and bringing the scene to life in acrylic paint. The painting focuses primarily on two people, usually the newlyweds, but additional people and details can often be included depending on the composition.

Watching the painting take shape provides a memorable experience for guests and creates a natural talking point during the reception. Where timings allow, I also love creating the drama of an evening reveal. However, I never rush a painting simply to meet an artificial deadline: if it needs further work, I’ll take it back to my Skipton studio and complete it carefully before arranging delivery.

My standard live wedding paintings are created on a 16 × 20-inch stretched canvas and include up to five hours of painting at your venue, followed by any studio time needed to complete the artwork. Every painting is individually composed and created by hand, never digitally generated or produced from a template.

Post-wedding commissions offer the same personal approach without live painting on the day. These are ideal if your wedding has already taken place, you would prefer to keep the painting as a surprise, or you want me to combine details from several photographs into one meaningful scene.

I’ve been painting commissioned artwork for more than ten years and work predominantly in acrylics. My style is expressive and recognisable rather than rigidly photorealistic, capturing the personalities, movement and warmth of the occasion.

I’m based in Skipton, North Yorkshire, and cover weddings throughout Yorkshire and across the UK. Live wedding paintings currently start from £500, with the final quotation based on the location, canvas size, composition and level of detail.

If you have a particular moment, view or group of people in mind, please get in touch. I’m always happy to talk through your ideas and help you choose an approach that feels right for your wedding.

absolutely breathtaking.
Wow! Tom is incredibly talented. He painted the backdrop of our painting (Barden Tower) in the morning of the wedding and added my family and me into it flawlessly. The final painting was ready a couple of weeks after the wedding and it is absolutely breathtaking. Our guests loved watching him work on the day, and we love our new artwork!. Thank you, Tom! I love that I can look at it everyday and relive the magic of our wedding day with something so incredibly special!

something we’ll treasure for the rest of our lives
Tom painted the most beautiful wedding portrait for us and we couldn’t be happier with it. He was an absolute pleasure - friendly, professional, and incredibly talented. The painting perfectly captures our wedding day and is something we’ll treasure for the rest of our lives. The attention to detail and the care he put into every brushstroke is remarkable. We can’t thank Tom enough for his time and for creating such a precious keepsake of our special day.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

Do you do live wedding paintings?

Absolutely! I’ll be there with you on the day for as long as you’d like to book me. Your guests can interact with me as much as they like, and I’ll make sure I’m set up somewhere they can watch the painting develop throughout the celebration.

Do you do a reveal on the day?

Depending how long you've booked me for and what moment you're trying to capture, but where timings allow, I’ll aim to reveal the painting before I leave. However, I won’t rush the finished artwork, so I may take it back to my studio to add the final details before arranging delivery.

Who can I include in the portrait?

Let's start with the happy couple! And then, I'm more than happy to focus up to 4-5 other people, such as children or immediate family members.

How much does a live wedding painting cost?

Prices start from £500 and vary according to location, time at the venue, canvas size and complexity. The majority of times, I can offer what you need for around £500-£700, with my base price of £500 giving exactly what's needed much of the time.

How long will you paint at our wedding?

Bookings can be tailored, with my standard package including up to five hours at the venue.

Can we choose the moment or scene you paint?

Absolutely! We'll discuss the preferred view, moment, people and meaningful details beforehand.

Do you travel outside Yorkshire?

Yes, I'm based in Skipton, North Yorks, but available throughout Yorkshire and across the UK, with travel included in the quotation.

What size is the finished painting?

Your standard live painting is acrylic on a 16 × 20-inch stretched canvas, with other sizes potentially available by request.

What do you need from our venue?

A suitable area where guests can see me working, reasonable lighting and enough space for my easel and materials. I can liaise with the venue beforehand.

How far in advance should we book?

I would always encourage couples to enquire as soon as they have their date, particularly for popular summer weekends, but if I can make the date at short-notice, I'll certainly try.
