Describe your typical process with a couple.
I tend to work with either the bride or groom, generally not both as a personalised poem is usually commissioned as a gift for one of them or as a speech. I also work with bridesmaids, best man, mum or dad, anyone who gets in touch wanting a poem.
I start by sending a questionnaire via email for the client to complete with facts and information they want including in their poem. I then engage my poetic prowess to write their rhyming story, trying to use a balance of humour and sentiment! It usually takes between 1-2 weeks to write the first draft which is sent to the client for checking. I then make any requested changes until the client is totally happy with their poem!
What is your No. 1 top tip for keeping a crowd entertained?
Obviously a personalised poem!
Where is the most memorable place you have performed?
I once did an poetry open mic session at Cains Brewery in Liverpool, it was a great old venue with a lot of history and a great audience!
