What is your most memorable wedding?
We supply entertainers for weddings and don't attend weddings ourselves but the feedback we get from our brides and grooms is just wonderful and really makes us feel like we were very much part of their special day. There are just so many memories that our clients have shared with us over the years that it would be extremely difficult to pick one. I have to say, It's always incredibly satisfying to hear that you're getting things right for your clients and we couldn't be more proud of all our bands, artists and crews, who all work extremely hard to make sure they can deliver on our promises and put on a great show.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Ethical, caring, professional, experienced, focused
What about your business are you most proud of?
That we've never let anyone down!
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
A lot of artists and other service providers get booked up 6 months to a year in advance so book as early as possible as the longer you leave it, the fewer choices you will have left.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
Sadly, as an agency, we don't get to attend the weddings ourselves.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
Normally the bride or groom or a family member might contact us for some help and advice. At this point we would attempt to get as much information as possible about the sort of entertainment they're looking for and also, if possible, some details on the venue and timings for the day. Some bands and artists have small compact systems, other have much larger rigs that take longer to set up and In order to make any recommendations, its just as important for us to look at load in access, floor space limitations, power requirements, how much time the artists will have to set up and sound check equipment etc, as it is to look at a clients musical taste and budget. We will then provide a short list of available options for the client to consider. This will include detailed profile information, including demos, videos, images, repertoires, testimonials, etc and a quote. If the client is happy to proceed with any of the recommendations, we will inform the artist/band and ask them to hold the date for while we sort out the paperwork. At this point, although the booking isnt officially confirmed, our artists are asked to keep us informed if they get another inquiry for the same date and to offer our clients first refusal. To confirm the booking, we require a signed contract and a booking deposit (typically about 20-30% of the total amount). We keep the artists updated at every stage of the booking process. Once the booking is confirmed by the client, we issue formal contracts to officially secure the artists. Clients can continue to seek advice and guidance from Act Sharp in the lead up to their special day and then Closer to the event date, we will finalize a detailed event summary with the client, which includes final timings, any logistical information for the band and any instructions for the venue. This summary is then sent to the venue contacts for their approval. Once all parties are happy with the final summary details, the summary is then sent on to the artists and the artist will then contact the client to go over everything and discuss any musical preferences they might have. Balance payments can be made on or before the event date and the artists will discuss their payment preferences with you directly.
What is your No. 1 top tip for keeping a crowd entertained?
This depends on the requirement and the audience demographic. What we would recommend for a wedding ceremony or drinks reception would be very different to what we'd recommend for the evening reception.
