What is your most memorable wedding?
My first ever bride, my dear friend’s Charlotte and Shaun. Charlotte is a university pal and was my first customer, she fell in love with the first dress I chose for her! Epic NYC vibes running throughout the wedding, as they got hitched a few years ago in the big apple!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Luxe, alternative, chic, modern, chilled
What about your business are you most proud of?
My inclusivity. From day dot I wanted to celebrate women of all sizes as everyBODY is different. Your wedding dress should fit you, not the other way around.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Set up a “big” to do list with all of your jobs / wishes for the wedding. Then cut that down into more sizeable, monthly goals. Giving yourself time means that you can have a month off wedding planning. Sometimes it can get a bit overwhelming, but with planning ahead you can give yourself a care free break - with a date night or two!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
A Polaroid guestbook - it was ace!! We could sign our name / put a message on the back - everyone loved it!
Describe your typical process with a couple.
For a 130 Atelier bride I want to bring her knowledge, reassurance and confidence. And this starts before my bride walks through the shop door, she usually finds my Instagram! Having picked up on her style through the quiz she has completed via my website, no time is wasted when she comes to have her personal shopping experience. I want her to be inspired - I love seeing the initial reactions to the gowns I have hand picked for the bride to try. My bride and her two guests are welcomed with a glass of cold pink lemonade, they have the whole boutique to themselves. Upon saying “yes” brides receive a gift from me and pictures in front of the “boomerang wall” with their swag bag full of information with what to expect next. I have seamstresses based in Manchester that I recommend to my brides. They have worked in bridal boutiques and now run their own businesses for nearly 2 decades. I adore seeing my brides come in for their second appointment to meet their wedding dress for the first time. It’s so ace reading their reviews and receiving a snap of the wedding day! My contact doesn’t finish once they say yes - I am still helping brides who are styling their look with their wedding next month!
What do you love most about your job?
Meeting my excited brides in real life and seeing that moment where they fall in love with their wedding dress. It always gets me misty eyed!!
What is your favourite style of wedding dress?
It’s like picking your favourite child!! Currently it’s fit and Flare - I love brides that pair our overskirt with a fitted look. Everybody loves a two in one dress!!
What is the best way to incorporate "Something Blue" into the wedding outfit?
It can vary, I have seen it done with hair accessories, flowers, a stitched blue note in the dress, shoes or even the dress itself!!
What is your favourite wedding dress of all time?
I adored Meghan Markle’s second dress by Stella McCartney. Both were timeless, the Givenchy neckline of the first dress was so dreamy but the second look just pipped Givenchy for me!
