I love my job but didn’t start out as a baker in fact I’ve had such a varied career path, from recruiting pilots to dog training! but hand-on-heart, this is the best job (even midnight on a Friday).
Here’s a few facts you might not know about me: When not baking I love nothing more than walking my 2 rescue lurchers & scruffy terrier called Bruce. My favourite sponge flavour is spice coffee and walnut. I have a degree in Fine Art and Pattern Making, which comes in very handy! I love Jane Austin books and a bit of sci fi. And I've been lucky enough to have travelling a lot so when I retire, I plan to continue going to the bits I've missed.

I specialise in creating modern wedding cakes that feel classic and timeless. I love simplicity but with a splash of colour, or pattern; or a selection of my handmade wafer flowers. All my cakes are different because every couple is unique and I hope my designs reflect that. I also make delicious desserts and favours, creating dessert tables with a display of stands and dishes to compliment your wedding. And I think its important to consider how your beautiful cake and desserts sit within your venue by looking at the way we can dress the cake table to include those small touches you've taken to make your reception special. Thats why I include free stand hire for all my couples and work closely with your venue and suppliers to help create the perfect look.

How far in advance should we book a wedding cake with Sugar Blossom Cakes?

I recommend booking your wedding cake at least six to eight months in advance to ensure availability and ample time for design consultations. As a bespoke wedding cake designer serving Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Cambridgeshire, we prioritize personalised attention to detail, which requires a thoughtful planning process. Early booking allows us to collaborate closely with you to create a unique cake that perfectly complements your wedding theme and preferences, while also accommodating any special dietary requirements or custom design elements.

What is the starting price for your wedding cakes and what factors influence the final cost?

My wedding cakes start at £280 for a 2 tier to give 60-65 wedding portions, and I cater for up to 250 guests and as many tiers as you like! As each cake is handcrafted to suit your wedding style and preferences, the final cost varies depending on the cake size, design complexity, chosen flavours, and any additional decorative elements. You will receive an intial quote on enquiry then a comprehensive final cost before booking, which includes delivery and setup on the day as well as stand hire where available.

Do you offer wedding cake consultations and tastings, and where are they held?

Yes, I offer an informal, relaxed wedding cake consultation and tasting which is the perfect opportunity to let me know your wedding day plans and inspirations, you'll find out a bit more about me and see if I’m the right baker for you; and we can start to look at creative options for your wedding cake design. Consultations are held by appointment at my Luton premises and you also get to take home a delicious selection box of cake flavours. 

Can you create a cake to match our wedding theme/colours/flowers (and work from inspiration photos)?

Definitely yes. I specialize in designing bespoke wedding cakes tailored to you and your wedding day, incorporating your styling, colour palette and flower choices into the cake design. Using any inspiration photos you many have as well as discussing your preferences (your consultation is perfect for this!), ensuring every detail, from decoration and colour scheme to flavour combinations, reflects your personal taste and complements your wedding day perfectly.

Do you cater for any special dietary requirements such as gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, and nut-free options, and how are allergens managed in your wedding cakes?

I am committed to accommodating a variety of dietary requirements to ensure every couple and guest can enjoy our bespoke wedding cakes and desserts. I offer options including gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, and egg free options, all crafted with the utmost care to maintain flavour and quality. To manage allergens effectively, I follow strict preparation protocols in our kitchen, thoroughly clean all equipment between batches, and clearly communicate all ingredients used. When you place your order, we work closely with you to understand your specific needs and provide detailed allergen information to help you make informed choices, ensuring your wedding treats are both safe and delightful.

What flavours and fillings are and can different tiers of the wedding cake have different flavours?

I offer a wide range of flavours and fillings to suit every taste including classic choices like Victoria sponge, rich chocolate, and red velvet, as well as more unique options such as white chocolate and passionfruit, pistachio rose and spiced coffee and walnut. Fillings range from fresh fruit preserves, tangy lemon curd, and creamy buttercream to decadent ganache and velvety cream cheese frosting. I understand that each couple has their own preferences, which is why I gladly accommodate different flavours for each tier of your wedding cake. This allows your cake to be personalized and enjoyed by all your guests, ensuring a memorable and delicious for your guests to enjoy.

How many servings do we need for our guest count, and what cake sizes do you recommend?

I normally recommend catering for around 80% of your guest numbers if the wedding cake isn't being used as part of the wedding breakfast dessert. Typically, a wedding cake portioned is based on a standard serving sizes—approximately 1.5 inch by 3 inches per slice (you can also choose a larger dessert size portions). A Typical 3 tier of a tall 9", 7" & 5" would happily give you 80-90 wedding portions. Since every wedding cake is bespoke, tailored to your specific needs, we work closely with you to design the perfect size and style to match your guest list and preferences, ensuring the perfect finish and serving requirements.

Is delivery and setup to the venue included?

I provide a full delivery and setup service to your venue ensuring your wedding cake arrives and is presented perfectly. I delivery within Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, or Cambridgeshire, and in most cases delivery is included in your quote (there may be a small additional charge for venues outside of my free delivery zone). Setup includes arranging any additional decoration supplied by you, your florist or venue, such as toppers, fresh flowers, personalised figures or charms, on the cake and I provide a detailed cake cutting guide to assist your caterers or venue staff in serving the cake expertly. As a key part of my role I work closely with your venue and suppliers to ensure a smooth, stress-free setup on the day.

What is your booking process for a wedding cake?

Once you've confirmed your date and venue its as easy as completing a contact form to check availability and let me know your details and ideas. I will then offer further suggestion, as well as quotes based on initial design ideas and guest numbers.

To secure your wedding date its a £100 deposit; then sit back and relax as your date is booked in, come meet me for a chat and choose your sponge flavours to sample; and we’ll enjoy the process together to create a beautiful wedding cake design. Alternatively, book in for a consultation before securing your date, to discuss your ideas in more detail and of course sample some cake! If your wedding date falls during the busy summer months, its always advisable to secure your date with a deposit as soon as you know you’d like to work with me.

We'll then be working together over the months leading up to the day to create a beautiful design for your wedding cake. The final balance payment would then be due 4 weeks before the wedding day.
