What is your most memorable wedding?
My own at Twycross Zoo 8 years ago.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Pretty, unique, quality, romantic, rustic, modern.
What about your business are you most proud of?
The quality of the finished cakes, looks and taste wise.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Dont settle for a picture you found, dare to ask for what you have in mind and let your supplier do what they are good at. Everything is bespoke made so you can probably have what you want and will likely choose something you never thought of.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
So many... gorgeous tipis next to a stunning canal in the middle of the british countryside, and little details like guestbooks comments written on wooden hearts and then place in a big picture frame to display after the wedding.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
An initial email conversation to check availability, price and answer any critical questions. An initial payment is then required to secure the booking, with a full design and cake tasting consultation to follow. Final balance is paid 4 weeks before the wedding and then delivery times and special requirements are ironed out. Delivery and set up on the day is included so the Bride and Groom can completely relax whilst I sort the cake and set it up.
What is your signature cake?
I couldn't pick one. The most popular are Lemon, Chocolate and Victoria sponge because they are safe good all rounders. My favourites are gingerbread, white choc and raspberry and cherry Bakewell.
What is the most original creation you have baked for a wedding?
I've done small cakes, huge cakes, teapot cakes pouring flowers, black fairytale cakes, 6 tier split in have with flowers cascading and simple single tier Italian lemon cake and so much more. My favourite though are pretty, pastels and a little rustic, quite simple ones. So a semi naked cake with the prettiest pastel flowers and im in love.
Describe how you got into making wedding cakes.
I loved baking and excelled at art in school, so mixing the two was inevitable. I am self taught and been working on my business for 9 years, doing weddings for 6.
What would be your show stopper in the Great British Bake Off?
A rustic chic buttercream finished cake with show stopping flowers across the front, with a different flavour for every tier.
