What is your most memorable wedding?
Jesmond Dene House November 2018 - I have never been to a more relaxed wedding. The bride and her party were the some of the most amazing people I have ever met. That plus I was working with one of my hair and makeup team!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Bespoke, Modern, Bohemian, Vintage, Unique
What about your business are you most proud of?
The way I have chosen to present myself on social media from my logo and branding through to my content. It is really clear to customers the type of business I run as well as the type of the person that I am which is very satisfying as this is exactly what I want to get across from the get go.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Invest in a wedding folder and make organised lists with a tick box alongside each task of everything categorising accordingly making notes of the dates and any costs along with a tick box. This really helps you to stay organised and enables you to check how much you are sticking to your budget which can quite easily get out of hand!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
A letter given by either couple to eachother the morning of the wedding. Fortunately the bride read it before she had her makeup applied but this really reminded her about why they were getting married in the first place.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
After confirming a booking, I will then arrange hair and makeup trials for a minimum of 6 weeks prior either at my home salon based in Streetgate, Sunnside or other location. I will confirm details such as; start and finish times adjusting accordingly to accommodate any changes. As I offer a range of services additional to hair and makeup, I like to ensure brides and their parties are aware that they are able to get advice and guidance from me. This could be anything from providing styling tips, advising on accessories, skin and nail care regimes through to organisation and planning tips.
What do you love most about your job?
I love helping people look and feel amazing. Simply being given the opportunity to provide hair and makeup for someones wedding which I believe is one of the most essential services for what will be one of the most important days of a couples life is amazing. The smile and sheer look of happiness an a brides face after finishing their hair and makeup is most rewarding!
What is your No. 1 beauty tip for a bride?
Cleanse, tone, exfoliate and moistruise morning and evening to keep your skin in good condition. Makeup always looks better on good skin! Do not be tempted to make any drastic changes to your skin care products close to the wedding as your skin could have a negative reaction.
How do you keep the bride feeling calm on her wedding day?
I have a very relaxed and personal approach when working with brides. I always make sure I go over the plan with the bride before I start working which helps put their mind at ease. A natural people person, I am able to engage and converse with everyone ensuring their are elements of both love and laughter which really helps to keep things calm.
What advice would you give to brides to stay looking great throughout their wedding day?
Ensure you drink water throughout the day to keep hydrated as it's easy to to forget when everyone wants to talk to you and offer you a glass of wine or whatever. Lipstick is one of the main things that will be disturbed after consumption of food and drink so always keep some handy to keep your lips looking fresh.
