Thairapy was launched in 2007 by Becks Simpson Business Owner CONGRATULATIONS! Specialising in Vintage, Bridal & Session Hair Styling, you may have seen some of Becks’ work Featured in Conde Naste BRIDES & Perfect Wedding magazines & all the major wedding blogs. Bit about Becks: My love affair of hair styling and the by gone era started way back when i was 14 years old, messing around with my own hair in my bedroom and shampoo and setting my nana Betty’s hair at weekends, needless to say she taught me a trick or two! I’ve been styling hair now for over 20 years. I feel i've been extremely lucky to have worked with award wining photographers and makeup artists, and also been part of theatre productions behind the scene hair styling, to name but a few of my creative works. I decided to extend my skills to vintage 4 years ago when i joined the Award winning Vintage Hair Lounge at Goodwood Revival in 2013 & 2014. I then continued my training with them, of which i completed the “ Vintage Hairstyling For Camera Course” and the rest as they say, is history :) Thanks for visiting my page, and i look forward to being your Bridal Hair Stylist!

Very lucky to of had you as my hairstylist!

Travel Notes

I'm located just outside of Wellingborough in the lovely village of Stanwick. I hold rehearsals at my home address but can come to your location of choice for an additional cost. Travel is priced at 50p per mile and this includes my return journey. Should you arrive at Wellingborough by train, i am happy collecting you from the station, no extra cost, as i'm 5 mins away :) I am happy to travel anywhere in the UK or Internationally. All Parking Charges & Tolls will be added. (10 mile radius of NN9 no travel charges)

What is your most memorable wedding?

My most memorable wedding would be that of Chris and Helen back in 2015. They were the first couple to get married in the Bristol Hypodrome, fab couple! It was an honour to be a part of the theatre's and their history.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Classic, Effortless, Natural, Secure, Comfortable

What about your business are you most proud of?

I think i'm most proud of my portfolio, i love looking at the images that i've created over the years, it reminds me of the fab people i've worked with too, i'm quite nostalgic :)

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

#1 Tip for couples i think... Always remember this day is both of your days and not someone else's. People will always try and sway your suggestions, but if you're happy, stick to your guns xx

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

At my friends wedding they did donations to help the Black Rhinos instead of favours, which i thought was a lovely alternative.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

I don't usually see the groom, but i do style Grooms hair from time to time :) My first initial contact spent with my bridal client would be to have a few chats via email or phone first regarding their bridal party package, then a confirmation of booking via email. We then arrange the hair rehearsal. At the rehearsal i love to know about the whole theme or day that is planed, and also see a picture of the dress as this helps me visualise the hair style. We chat about the morning schedule too, we then chat through ideas and get styling :) Rehearsals finish when the style is created, i don't put a time limit on them, but it usually lasts up-to 2.5hrs.

What do you love most about your job?

The bit I love the most about my job is the fact that every single person is completely unique, therefore making my job so varied!

What is your No. 1 beauty tip for a bride?

#1 Beauty tip... If you are thinking of wearing clip-in extensions and also thinking of changing your hair colour, change you hair colour first. You will need to colour match your hair, so always best to buy any hair extensions after the new colour.

How do you keep the bride feeling calm on her wedding day?

I have found the best way to keep my bride calm is to remind her that i am always aware of what is going on in the room, and if at any point she needs 5 minutes to herself, i just say to her to give me the nod and i will help her to get the quiet space she needs.

What advice would you give to brides to stay looking great throughout their wedding day?

For keeping your hair fresh throughout the wedding day, ask one of your bridesmaids or friends to have a small soft brissle brush to hand, and some travel hairspray. A gentle brush through of the hair, apply some hairspray, add a bit of lippy and a squirt of perfume before the evening guests arrive and this will really help make the day and night feel different and you'll feel refreshed :)
