What is your most memorable wedding?
So many! From the beach wedding on one of the hottest days in June to the 1950’s theme wedding in 2018. The rural farm wedding with 7 bridesmaids a bride and mother of the bride all having make-up completed by noon, quite honesty each wedding is so different it’s hard to specify a most memorable one as they all are in different ways! Each and every wedding is a privilege and being part of the 2020 intimate (covid restrictions) weddings was also a very special time as it was a sense of achievement that these brides managed to get married during difficult times.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Natural, pretty, timeless, glowing, modern
What about your business are you most proud of?
Recommendation to me always makes me feel so proud. To do a makeover on a bridesmaid then to be rebooked for her wedding a few years later means so much to me.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
When booking professionals for your wedding its best not to be guided too much by who is the cheapest as actually its better to book people that you are going to get on well with on your special day. So choose professionals that you feel you can trust and that you can connect with. People you would like to spend time with on your wedding day. This is especially important now that some weddings are becoming more intimate.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
I once witnessed the best man and a friend turn up at a brides door playing a guitar and singing her her an Ed Sheeran song! It was so sweet! I’ve also seen some beautiful lockets with pictures of loved ones hidden away in bouquets which always brings a tear to everyone’s eyes.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
I always meet the bride for a trial around 6/8 weeks before the big day. We will go through any ideas that the bride may have, look at pictures of her dress and discuss the colour theme or any special themes that may want to be incorporated into the make-up. At the trial we will take a before and after and the bride will leave with their finished look happy and excited for their big day ahead!
What do you love most about your job?
No wedding or bride is ever the same so i love the variety and being part of so many different special days. But the moment a bride looks in the mirror and says “wow” that’s the best feeling ever!
What is your No. 1 beauty tip for a bride?
Look after your skin with a good cleansing routine as make-up is only as good as the skin underneath. I can offer tips on this at the trial!
How do you keep the bride feeling calm on her wedding day?
I understand it's a nerve wracking day full of so many different emotions. I always take my time with the bride and try and try and provide a calm and quiet corner away from the madness of wedding prep if I can! Whilst having make-up done it's their time to just sit down and relax. People always comment how calm I am so I must be doing something right! I've been doing weddings for many years and have encountered many last minute panics or disasters such as dresses breaking, shoes not fitting and bridesmaids opening champagne bottles too close to their chins (causing major bruising!) So not much fazes me and if i can help with last min glitches i will happily do so.
What advice would you give to brides to stay looking great throughout their wedding day?
I have a secret tip to help brides from getting too tearful walking down the aisle and that is to put their tongue in the roof of the mouth to stop the tears! There i have said it now so even if you don't choose me then remember that tip ;o)
