What is your most memorable wedding?
I once attended a themed wedding and the make-up had to be themed as well! It was such a fun and creative experience!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Classic, Opulent, Luxe, Polished, Bespoke
What about your business are you most proud of?
I am most proud of the fact that I am my own boss and that I get to work with such wonderful and warm people. I love meeting people and being part of their day! I also get to travel out to such gorgeous venues! (mostly 15th century castles here in Scotland)
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Make sure you book the most important services well in advance e.g venue, catering, flowers, make-up and hair as these services are usually booked up to two years in advance!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
I once had a Bride who put sentimental family heirlooms into her veil (small jewellery types) and each had its own little story. She wanted to take each person who wasn’t there with them down the aisle with her. Which I thought was such a lovely thing to do.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
We first start with the initial email. From there I collect necessary information regarding the wedding. (Where, when, how many people etc) Once I have checked that I am available for the times and date that they want, I go ahead and take a deposit to secure the booking. I check in with the Bride every now and then in the run up to the wedding. Typically I would have a trial with the Bride, bridesmaids etc at least one month before the wedding, although not every Bride requests or is able to have a trial.
What do you love most about your job?
I love getting to meet so many different people from all over the country and sometimes the world!
What is your No. 1 beauty tip for a bride?
Get into a good skincare routine at least six months before your wedding day, treat yourself to a spa facial package. Good skin is key to flawless make-up on the day.
How do you keep the bride feeling calm on her wedding day?
If I stay calm and collected, 99 times out of 100, the Brides stays calm too! There’s really nothing crazy to worry about, at the end of the day, you still get to be married to the love of your life! But when a Bride does become too stressed, I simply reassure her and do whatever I can to help out!
I once attended a wedding where the wedding car couldn’t make it to the wedding in time to pick up the Bride to take her to the church! So in order to make sure she stayed calm and didn’t ruin her day, I offered to use my car! So I drove the Bridal Party to the Church in my wee Fiat 500!
What advice would you give to brides to stay looking great throughout their wedding day?
I would always say to carry some blotting papers in your clutch to blot off any extra oils that accumulates as the day goes on, but the most important thing is to feel confident and beautiful!
