Once you have booked your venue try to secure all your suppliers as soon as possible so you have time to work with each one individually and dont feel rushed. Suppliers in demand tend to be booked sometimes a year in advance.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
When the groom to be arranged for the bride to be's favourite dog to be the ring bearer at the wedding and she had no idea and had always wanted this dog. It was really lovely
Describe your typical process with a couple.
If I have an enquiry for Hair and Makeup I gather as much information as possible and provide a Quotation. If the bride wishes to secure the booking in the diary I take a deposit to secure the wedding day. I then arrange a Pre-Trial Consultation to advise on Skincare, Haircare, Working with the bride to ensure this is perfect in time for the Trial appoinment so that the hair and makeup looks at it's best. I also advise on hair accessories and veils from the trial once the hair and makeup are in place. I can also link up with a bridal boutique next to me and offer the trial appointment so that the bride can try the dress on afterwards to see the whole look and write down any changes for the big day. I always take photos and make notes and adapt things on the day where needed.
On the Wedding day itself I arrive 15 minutes before I need to start to set up and go through timings again with the Bride. A schedule of timing is always added onto the quotation initially and adapted if needed. I generally work with the bridal party first and then the bride last so that she has time to relax and enjoy the process.
I offer the service to stay until the bride gets into the dress and apply hair accessories before that. I will always help with other wedding issues whilst I am there as I see it as a service and not just hair and makeup.
What do you love most about your job?
I love to transform someone and make them feel a million dollars
What is your No. 1 beauty tip for a bride?
Drink Plenty of Water (I know it's not always easy), Eat healthily, Have regular facials and destress regularly by looking after yourself and pampering where you can. Look after your skin. It is the foundation for all makeup.
How do you keep the bride feeling calm on her wedding day?
When I meet a bride to be I will judge on their personality. If they need me to be completely quiet on the day to keep them calm that is what I will do. Most of the time we have fun and laughter and jokes and that tends to work really well on a natural basis. I will always be on hand to help where I can.
What advice would you give to brides to stay looking great throughout their wedding day?
Just to top up any lipstick or powder and to enjoy every minute because this radiates through into your photos. There are different options available to top up hair and makeup into the evening or change the look slightly if required.
