What is your most memorable wedding?
My first wedding (you never forget your first) my bride was a lady of a certain age, and she had cancer in the past which meant she had to have radiotherapy which caused her to lose a lot of her hair, including her lashes and eyebrows.
She had a vintage 1920's them, and I had to make her look like she had lashes and draw in her eyebrows.
I really enjoyed doing her makeup and was excited about doing the 1920's them.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
The look I mostly do is quite a natural look. I enhance the features so you look like your best self on your big day
What about your business are you most proud of?
I love weddings and making a bride smile on her wedding day is exactly why I love doing this job
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Stay on top of you budget. Have a budget set and stick to it as much as you can. It is so easy to get caught up in the bliss of planning your big day, but it can also be overwhelming. Make sure you have time just for the both of you.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
A bride I went to once made up a box of goodies for her bridal party full of lovely goodies that was made just for them. Love those little touches.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
Once an enquiry is made I like to answer back as soon as possible with a general price. Once the bride has got back to me, I will let her know the cost and a booking form will need to be filled and deposit made to guarantee the date is saved. I always recommend that the bride has a preview makeup before the day, this allows me to meet the bride face to face and the bride can preview the makeup look she prefers.
What do you love most about your job?
I love how such a simple thing of having a makeup done can bring such joy. The overall "Oh wow!" Reaction is the best feeling.
What is your No. 1 beauty tip for a bride?
Prep your skin the night before by giving your face a good exfoliate.
Don't use harsh chemicals on your face the night before, and when you wake up use a cooling eye mask for at least 5 minutes to reduce any puffiness around the eyes. A good base will make for a great makeup.
How do you keep the bride feeling calm on her wedding day?
Depending on the bride and how nervous they are I either talk about the venue and why she/ they chose it, or talk about something away from the day it'self like the honeymoon. That's always a good distraction as it's something that is in the future.
What advice would you give to brides to stay looking great throughout their wedding day?
For makeup when booking with me I always give a touch up kit, which has the essentials to touch up your makeup on the day. If you cry and you most likely will, never scrub or wipe at your eyes always dap in the corners of your eyes, even waterproof mascara can give a panda look.
