What is your most memorable wedding?
Oh wow, it has to be the one where the bride had booked a videographer who provided a karaoke package. He had the whole bridal party jumping on the bed, singing along to their chosen song for the day….the atmosphere was buzzing, everyone was just full of energy and smiles!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Versatile, elegant, romantic, boho, radiant.
What about your business are you most proud of?
My reviews! Nothing quite beats waking up in the morning only to receive the most amazing review online or thank you cards/gifts through my letterbox….it is honestly the best reminder as to why I do what I do and love my job so much 🥰
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
When choosing your ceremony time, keep in mind the size of your bridal party that need to be wedding ready on time. If you’ve a large bridal party with a 12pm ceremony then you’ll need to hope your bridal party are “morning people” 😅 I will always have my bridal parties ready either 1 hour before the ceremony time (if we’re already at the venue), or 1 hour before you need to leave (if getting ready elsewhere). This gives time to get into dresses and have photos without feeling rushed or stressed….i’m all about the stress free life!
Describe your typical process with a couple.
1. Once you have enquired, I will ask for the relevant information I need to obtain to create a quote for you.
2. Once you’ve received your quote and confirmed you’re happy to secure your booking, I will then send a wedding agreement to you to get your date booked in.
3. Once you’re booked in, the next step will be for me to contact you a few months before your wedding to arrange a suitable bridal trial date with you.
4. Once we have a bridal trial date in the diary I’ll then send a trial preparation email nearer the time with all the information you need to know ahead of your bridal trial date.
5. It’s trial day and you’re super excited to see your wedding hair and make up vision come to life, we’ll take a look at your inspiration photos together and create a look based on your vision to best suit you and your style.
6. After the trial i will write up my notes of products used and team that with photos i’d have taken, this way I can refresh my memory closer to your wedding day to ensure we get the same bridal look on your big day!
7. I’ll always be in touch again closer to your wedding day to reconfirm the venue and times, I find this reassures those last minute nerves.
What do you love most about your job?
Those first reactions when handing over the mirror to the bride and she just LOVES her hair and make up, the feeling i get is genuinely priceless 🥹 I also absolutely love the girly atmosphere during a wedding morning, lots of conversation and laughs ☺️
What is your No. 1 beauty tip for a bride?
SKINCARE! Have a good skincare regime for your skin type (oily, dry, combination). Your make up will only look as good as your skincare regime, if you look after your skin and keep it well hydrated then your make up will look much more flawless, radiant and will also be more durable on the day. It’s also important to hydrate from the inside, so plenty of water and leafy greens will have your skin glowing too! 🤩
Oh and also, never treat yourself to a facial just before the wedding. It may seem like a good idea to have a nice pamper the week of the wedding but it’s highly likely you will break out in blemishes, if you’re going to treat yourself to facials then make a start at least 6 months priory and make it a regular thing…this way your skin will become used to the treatment, appear much more flawless and radiant.
I could go on and on, I’ve so many tips I could share but those are top of the list!
How do you keep the bride feeling calm on her wedding day?
Manage my timings well. I like to give myself more than enough time to allow for an enjoyable relaxed morning, there’s no room for stress on a wedding morning when it comes to hair and make up with me. I will also never have the bride last in my chair, when everyone else is wedding ready apart from the bride then this can create the ultimate stress for the bride, Especially when the photographer has arrived and is snapping away!
What advice would you give to brides to stay looking great throughout their wedding day?
Make sure your bridal make up artist is using long wearing and water resistant products. Keep hair away from humidity and moisture (steam dresses/veil the night before or before having hair and make up done on the day, and order those clear umbrellas just in case…although let’s hope you won’t need them). You’ll also want a lipstick to top up with as the more you eat and drink the more lipsticks (even lip stains) wear away, for super hot days it’s hand to have some blot papers to hand…those old school blotting papers are perfect for absorbing moisture from the skin without rubbing off the make up.
