Full Description
If you are looking for an intimate and cosy wedding venue within an enchanting and romantic setting look no further than Whittington Castle, some of which dates from the 12th century and has links to the Holy Grail. Located in a small village in rural Shropshire the Castle has a magical quality. Ivy clad walls, a medieval moat with majestic swans and a twin-towered gatehouse create a unique and special atmosphere. There are opportunities for inspirational photographs in the grounds. Our weddings take place in the elegant Lady Eleanor room in the Castle’s south tower. Lady Eleanor lived in the 14th century and was responsible for turning the Castle into a comfortable home. Aside from a traditional wedding there are other ceremonies to choose from. A handfasting or marriage blessing is a deeply meaningful and joyful way to celebrate love and union between two people. Each ceremony is a delightful blend of poetry and prose. You may wish to hold a themed ceremony – something special to you, or to renew your vows. If you would like an outdoor wedding during the summer months this too can be discussed. As a small venue, catering for up to 35 guests, you are guaranteed a warm and friendly personal service from the moment you enquire. There is ample parking, excellent hotels nearby as well as a mainline railway station. Our experienced wedding manager will guide you through the process and be on hand every step of the way. Beautiful site for a small wedding
We married here in 2015. We took one look around and fell in love with the surroundings and the intimacy of the room and castle. Sue was brilliant and couldn’t have done more to make our day more special. We had a small ceremony with only 14 guests and the lady Eleanor room was arranged in a way that felt intimate and full. Afternoon tea in the tea rooms complete with vintage china was a lovely touch after. So lovely to say we married in a medieval castle and the photos are stunning!
