Lusty Beg Island Resort Full Description
Lusty Beg’s unique layout allows us to offer you a truly exclusive wedding experience. It has been our policy for 20 years to ensure we are only facilitating one wedding per day. We are passionate about this and allows you to create a unique event. The rustic Willow Suite accommodating up to 200 guests, features its own entrance, private bar and exclusive outdoor patio area with charming views overlooking Lower Lough Erne. It offers the perfect space to host your wedding celebrations and offers a simple, ideal backdrop that will allow you to decorate the room to suit your own personal tastes and preferences! If you wish to have your ceremony on the island, there is a fee of £350. Exchanging your vows is a precious moment, and you can also use Lusty Beg Island as your special venue to host such an occasion, as we are licensed to hold both indoor and outdoor ceremonies. The Civil Ceremony can be performed by a council registrar or anyone who has been ordained to carry out a service. We cater to both those who wish to have a ceremony on the Island, and those who are just here to celebrate! For those who wish to carry their party into day two, “The Thatch” offers the perfect location to host a post wedding BBQ – a modern and relaxed way to continue the celebration of your big day!

The best day
Where do I start!! From the moment we visited Lusty beg we knew it was the venue for us. It is the most beautiful venue with the most relaxed atmosphere. Mary looked after everything and nothing was too big of an ask. On the day Holly and Robert were the absolute dream team and had the day running like clockwork. The waiters, waitresses and bar staff were the best!! The food was exceptional, the amount of compliments our guests made on it was a testament in itself. Lusty beg is a hidden gem!! Once your on the other side of the ferry you feel like your on your holidays! We are 5 weeks in to married life and the day is still being talked about!! We expect ourselves and our guests will have loads more trips to the island. We can’t thank the team enough it certainly was a day we will never forget!

The perfect day
Having been to weddings at Lusty Beg as a guest over the years I had no doubt of where I wanted my own Wedding Venue to be when it came to organising things. Not only is it in a spectacular location with brilliant photo opportunities, but the service & food were also amazing. Special shout out to Holly & the wedding planning team for their excellent work in making everything run so smoothly & for all of their help in the lead up to the big day.

Describe the best wedding that happened at Lusty Beg Island Resort?

Lusty Beg Island has seen some amazing weddings, but one sticks out in particular. The day started out with a Full Irish Breakfast being delivered to the Bride and Grooms Lodges. The Bride was staying in a lodge with her bridesmaids, and the groom in another lodge with his groomsmen. After Breakfast, the Bride and her wedding party moved over to our Salon Spa, where they all had their hair and makeup done. Once the Bride was ready, she walked out the back of the Spa where she was picked up by our Rib Boat. The bride was taken around the island, where all of her wedding guests and husband to be, were waiting on the lakeside Pavilion. The sound of Harp music filled the air and a big beautiful rainbow arched right behind the alter. The ceremony was lovely, and the weather co-operated which is a rare thing in Northern Ireland. After the prenuptials, the newly weds went off to take their photos on the island, and all their guests moved into the drinks reception. To end the evening off, the couples parents surprised everyone with a surprise Fire Works Show. It was truly amazing. The night quickly passed by with lots of dancing and laughter. It was a night the bride and groom will remember forever. On the following day, the couple had an after wedding bbq for any of their guests who stayed on the island. There was about 50 people at the bbq, but it was a quaint evening, where everyone was able to decompress, chat and share stories. Truly a lovely wedding. Every wedding we plan, we aim to match this one wedding which will always stick in our minds.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

We always suggest that the happy couple refrain from organising the rooming list, as this can be quite stressful. We recommend that the Bride and Groom send out a Save the Date, and let any of their guests planning on attending book their own accommodation. This removes a large amount of stress from the newly weds, and ensures that they are not running around on their wedding day.

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

My favourite personal touch that I have experienced would have to be when one of our couples getting married, lost their father and brought in his Motorcycle. The bike was their Fathers most prized possession. The Bike was placed on display for everyone to see. This was a very emotional moment for the Groom, and afterwards, everyone was saying that having the motorcycle present made it feel like their father was there. This would have to be one of my most favourite moments at Lusty Beg Island.

Describe Lusty Beg Island Resort in 5 adjectives

Rustic, Original, Memorable, Picturesque, Fun

Where’s the best photo spot at Lusty Beg Island Resort?

Our most favourite spot on the island to take photos would have to be the Jetty. We also have a lakeside pavilion and several other waterfront areas which are perfect for the most amazing wedding photos.

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at Lusty Beg Island Resort?

We were lucky enough to hold the wedding for Annabel Scholey and Ciaran McMenamin. Annabel Scholey is an English actress. She played Lauren Drake in the BBC supernatural drama Being Human and the leading role of 'Maddie' in the musical feature film Walking on Sunshine. Scholey played Contessina de Medici in the television series, Medici: Masters of Florence with Dustin Hoffman and Richard Madden. Ciaran McMenamin is an award-winning actor born in Enniskillen in 1975, best known for his roles in the BBC1 television movie David Copperfield and the science fiction programme Primeval. When McMenamin isn’t acting, you can find him vividly discussing angling, Manchester United and the Mancunian music scene. A carefully chosen soundtrack engages readers and complements the principal character’s life in McMenamin’s debut novel, Skintown.

What’s your favourite canapé?

Our most popular Canape is the Roast Beef on a Sourdough Bread with a hint of Horseradish and Radish Cream with a splash of Dill. This is an appetizer not to be missed.

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

Our favourite Midnight treat would have to be the mini pulled pork on a Brioche Bun. The pulled pork is marinated and cooked so that it melts in your mouth. The flavour of our Pulled Pork Buns leaves your mouth watering and looking for more.

What is Lusty Beg Island Resort most unique feature?

The most unique feature about our venue, is that we are an island. Guests take a short ferry ride from the mainland to our little haven, where dreams come true. We are able to transform our island into a sought after venue by any bride in Northern Ireland. We are a picturesque location, which would make Lusty your ideal spot for that perfect wedding photo.

What part of your business are you most proud of?

We are extremely proud of our Company Policy, One Wedding a day. This allows us to focus all our attention on the Bride to be and ensure that their day is everything that they ever dreamed.
