Description

Each of Knockinaam's eleven bedrooms are luxuriously-appointed and individually-styled - each with their own unique character and charming features. Our Restaurant has been awarded three AA Rosettes for Culinary Excellence and our wine list which includes over 350 wines (with many available by the glass ) has received a 'Notable Wine List Award' from the AA. As a proud supporter of the Galloway & Southern Ayrshire Biosphere and the only Luxury Boutique Hotel within the Biosphere to receive full UNESCO accreditation, we take sustainability seriously and purchase the vast majority of our food from trusted local suppliers or harvest it from our own Kitchen Garden. Exclusive use is available for weddings on a Dinner, Bed & Breakfast and for a minimum of 20 adults for a minimum of two nights.

Still the best of the best
Still the best of the best(if anything it’s got better).A very happy return to this beautiful hotel,beautiful setting ,lovely warm welcome,every member of the team made us version welcome and comfortable,nothing too much trouble. I have some dietary problems which make committing to a set taster for five consecutive nights a leap of faith. I was treated to five different menus all specifically tailored to my needs where necessary,all substitute courses were to the same high standard .

Incredible barbecue experience
Incredible barbecue experience at The Cove - first time of having butterflied leg of lamb on the barbecue. We were made to feel really welcome even though we were not staying at the hotel and were really well looked after.

Anniversary experience made special
Spent two nights here to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Lovely comfortable room. Excellent staff and beautiful food. Tea on arrival served with home made shortbread; liked the wee touches like nocellara olives and handmade crisps served with pre dinner drinks. Tasting menu was really good. Appreciated the fact that ingredients were locally sourced, indeed many came from the hotel’s own kitchen garden. Breakfast offered plenty of options and again, jam and marmalade were home made.

Perfect venue for a special celebration
We had a wonderful weekend with family and friends celebrating a special anniversary. The facilities, service, food and drink were all of the very highest order. It’s a wonderful venue in every way. David was incredibly helpful in suggesting an itinerary and helping with food and wine choices

Five star no compaints
This was our third visit and our second this year.This time we stayed in Pond, the bedroom had just been refurbished with a new bathroom added which certainly had the wow factor. Large walk-in in shower with a large free standing bath with a separate dressing area and underfloor heating. The staff were as always very attentive with nothing too much trouble. The food is exceptional with the tasting menu changing completely each of our five nights.....

Unique and unparalleled experience
What an incredible 2 night stay we had in the Churchill Suite. Impeccable hospitality and the highlight, of course, was Chef Tony and team’s 5 course dinner. Truly Michelin-star worthy. Every member of the service team was friendly and professional. The Chef chatted with guests in the evenings and made us feel so welcome. He happened to be outside when my husband and I were departing and while he could have just gone inside to go about his busy day he made the effort to run up to say goodbye ...

Superlative food in a delightful hotel
The food....much has been said of Tony Pierce's sublime cuisine and after 29 years at the Stove he is better than ever!Not one morsel of my three breakfasts and dinners was other than totally delicious and the planning and execution of meals of that calibre takes more than a little effort. From the butter on the table by way of deliciously homemade rolls and then through each well balanced course of the tasting menu the professionalism and love of cooking shines through.......

Wonderful and decadent
This was our second visit to Knockinaam Lodge; we stayed for three nights leading up to New Year. Great experience
Booked for a special birthday lunch today and it was a delightful experience. The food was superb and not hurried in any way, location is stunning and we were treated so well by everyone there today. To all the moaners and complainers on this site I bet that you are not as well fed at home! It is quite clear that it is a set menu and we were given 3 opportunities to advise if we had any dietary requirements. Wedding dinner and overnight stay
We had our wedding dinner and overnight stay at the Lodge. Absolutely everything about our stay was perfect. The food and staff were exceptional and made our day very special. We would not hesitate to return. Our wedding guests were as impressed as ourselves with seven course dinner.

Knockinaam Lodge is 4.6 miles from the charming seaside village of Portpatrick and 7.8 miles from Stranraer. Prestwick Airport is an hour and three-quarters (65 miles) by car and Glasgow and its Airport are two and a quarter hours (95 miles) by car. We are three and a quarter hours (141 miles) by car from Edinburgh and Glasgow is approx. two and half-hours away by train – currently there are five scheduled services per day in each direction.
