From the cosy, book lined Study, to the elegant Drawing Room, with its Boudoir Grand piano, both rooms provide a special space for your wedding ceremony. Both complete with Victorian fixtures and furnishings to suit your wedding party, these period rooms are perfect for the couple wanting something special and intimate, with plenty of charm.
Should your wedding party be 10 or less (including the couple), William Gaskell's study is perfect for those wanting a small, intimate ceremony. The book lined walls provide a cosy, yet elegant feel to your wedding day, not to mention a fabulous backdrop for photos. If your numbers are higher, up to 35, the Drawing Room is the room for you. The Drawing Room includes use of a Boudoir Grand piano which may be played by an experienced pianist and Victorian furnishings that can be arranged to suit your wedding party. The couple are married in front of the original sash windows, overlooking the glorious Gaskell garden.
Following the ceremony, we can provide a drinks reception in the hall allowing your guests to explore the other period rooms, such as, The Dining Room, which is where Elizabeth wrote her famous stories and letters. The beautifully restored gardens with its mix heritage and native planting schemes also offers another option for your drinks reception and is a charming backdrop for wedding photographs.
The Servants Hall and Tea room, which would have been the former kitchen, provide a lovely space for a wedding reception. Whether that be a traditional afternoon tea, a buffet or a formal sit-down meal. Mismatched vintage crockery & table cloths are available to hire. The house also has a fully licenced bottle bar and is fully accessible with lifts & ramps on site. On street parking is permitted in the area for 3 hrs in the week & is free at weekend.
