Downham Hall is a family owned, boutique hotel and events venue nestled in between Billericay and Wickford in the spectacular Essex countryside. We feel our beautifully renovated 16th century Manor House is something really special and we hope that you will agree that we have succeeded in creating a real "home from home" for our wedding couples, to share with all your friends and family on your special day.

If you are considering a civil ceremony, we are licensed to hold ceremonies both indoor and outdoor in a variety of beautiful locations. Alternatively, we have a beautiful parish church located just a stone’s throw from the venue.

Our dedicated team will be with you every step of the way, along with a wedding coordinator to assist you from the very beginning through to the big day itself, allowing you to relax, knowing that absolutely every detail is taken care of!

Downham Hall offers completely bespoke catering packages to suit al tastes and budgets. For a "traditional" catering package including canapes, welcome drinks, a complimentary tasting dinner, a 3 course wedding breakfast chosen from our extensive menu, wine, tea and coffee, toasting drinks and evening food we charge approximately £125pp. However, if you would prefer a more informal catering style such as buffets, BBQs or a traditional afternoon tea, we are more than happy to put together a package for you.

We choose Downham hall due the stunning scenery. We had a wedding coordinator from the moment we booked and she kept us up to date with everything and made the day run smoothly. The venue was clean, fresh and beautiful. Rooms where immaculate, marquee was stunning. Food was absolutely delicious. All the staff where so attentive and there to my every need. Downham Hall is simply a stunning and beautiful venue and was exactly what we were looking for, with its very own bouquet charm, we knew we didn’t need to look any further once we viewed the venue. Downham hall is such a beautiful venue and we felt so lucky to have been able to get married there. The grounds are stunning and so well kept, it really is a beautiful place. Dawn and the team were absolutely amazing from start to finish, nothing was too much trouble and everything was taken care of in a seamless manner, from worries during the pandemic, to the day itself, we experienced truly excellent customer service. We had our wedding reception at Downham and it was perfect. Dawn, was wonderful from first viewing, rearranging due to covid, to finally the day itself. Such a gorgeous venue with views wherever you look, and really incredibly helpful staff who I could tell completely understood that it was the most important day of our lives and did everything they could to add to that. The venue is beautifully decorated, and so in keeping with the surrounding countryside. Felt very lucky to spend our day thereWe had our wedding reception at Downham and it was perfect. The venue was absolutely beautiful, the aspect of the house outside and the grounds complete with a lake provide a lovely setting for photographs with gorgeous views of the surrounding countryside. the Orangery was beautiful and the food perfect the service was delivered with precision and attention to detail, the staff were fabulous and attentive. Dawn the wedding coordinator was always available and willing to go above and beyond to accommodate our requests.The venue was absolutely beautiful, the aspect of the house outside and the grounds complete with a lake provide a lovely setting for photographs with gorgeous views of the surrounding countryside. the Orangery was beautiful and the food perfect the service was delivered with precision and attention to detail, the staff were fabulous and attentive. Dawn, the events coordinator, was unbelievably helpful. Her communication with us regarding changes/covid updates and just general questions we had was so quick, and she was brilliant on the day. We also stayed the night at the venue, which was the cherry on top. The breakfast the next morning, was in the gorgeous orangery, and the chef was so generous with the portions. Covid restrictions were changing in the run up to the day, Downham Hall were flexible in meeting our needs & obeying rulesDawn, the events coordinator, was unbelievably helpful. There aren’t words to describe how incredible everyone at Downham Hall was for our big day. From the constant communication in the run up, always being there to answer my questions no matter how stupid, to the execution of the day itself, the team could not have done more to make our day incredible. You’d have had absolutely no idea there were COVID restrictions. The food was AMAZING, the location is STUNNING and our day went off without a hitch. I cannot sing their praises high enough!There aren’t words to describe how incredible everyone at Downham Hall was for our big day. From the constant communication in the run up, always being there to answer my questions no matter how stupid, to the execution of the day itself, the team could not have done more to make our day incredible. We honestly could not have been happier with our choice of wedding venue. The staff at Downham Hall were outstanding. They were very attentive and friendly. The whole day run so smoothly with no problems (that we know of). We were really made to feel very welcome and very important. The staff at Downham couldn’t have done any more for us. It was very clean, food was amazing and the bedrooms were beautiful. The bridal dressing room was the perfect size. Communication was also very prompt.We honestly could not have been happier with our choice of wedding venue. The staff at Downham Hall were outstanding. They were very attentive and friendly.
