Downham Hall is available for couples who wish to create a truly bespoke day. Included in the venue hire you will receive the services of a dedicated wedding coordinator, use of the bridal dressing room for your entire day, exclusive use of the venue until midnight on the day of your wedding, an award winning DJ package, an overnight stay in our luxurious Bridal Suite, on site parking for up to 45 cars, use of our sound system for background music and speeches, complimentary garden games, all tables and chairs, use of our cake stand and knife, premium lighting package in the marquee and fully licensed bars run by our experienced events team.

Downham Hall offers completely bespoke catering packages to suit al tastes and budgets. For a "traditional" catering package including canapes, welcome drinks, a complimentary tasting dinner, a 3 course wedding breakfast chosen from our extensive menu, wine, tea and coffee, toasting drinks and evening food we charge approximately £85pp. However, if you would prefer a more informal catering style such as buffets, BBQs or a traditional afternoon tea, we are more than happy to put together a package for you.

Downham Hall is a beautiful venue in Downham, Essex. We are an ideal venue for people who want a boutique, countryside style wedding.
The property has been on the site since the 16th Century with the current manifestation believed to have evolved over the last 300 years.
We have spent almost three years lovingly renovating the property to the highest of standards and have incorporated 5 luxury en suite bedrooms, 3 function spaces, a luxurious wedding marquee and stunning grounds available for wedding celebrations, all surrounded by beautiful countryside views.
Downham Hall is an exclusive use wedding venue and the perfect setting for a small, intimate wedding in our beautiful De Beauvoir suite or Orangery or, for a larger wedding, held within our stunning marquee in the grounds. We would be delighted to offer our venue as the perfect setting for your special day.
Although we are now taking bookings well into 2024, we do still have a handful of dates available for 2022 and 2023.
All of the events held at Downham Hall are always very well received and we are lucky to have lots of wonderful reviews from past clients who have become dear friends and continue to visit us for other events or to dine in our wonderful restaurant. Many guests comment on the fact that the sheer beauty and peacefulness of the venue and it’s surroundings make you feel as though you are miles from anywhere but really you are only 2 miles from a mainline station into London Liverpool Street!
Downham Hall is an ideal venue for both locals and those travelling from further afield to find the perfect setting for their wedding celebrations.

Absolutely amazing
We choose Downham hall due the stunning scenery. We had a wedding coordinator from the moment we booked and she kept us up to date with everything and made the day run smoothly. The venue was clean, fresh and beautiful. Rooms where immaculate, marquee was stunning. Food was absolutely delicious. All the staff where so attentive and there to my every need.

I love the family run feel!
Our wedding reception was originally booked for the 23rd December 20. Because of all the Covid restrictions changing it meant we had to change our
plans many times. Although unfortunately due to Covid restrictions it was postponed from December until May 21. We only had a matter of months to
then rearrange our wedding reception. The Downham Hall staff were excellent in trying to get us what we wanted re our reception.

We felt so lucky!
Downham hall is such a beautiful venue and we felt so lucky to have been able to get married there. The grounds are stunning and so well kept, it really is a beautiful place. Gorgeous venue!
We had our wedding reception at Downham and it was perfect. Dawn, was wonderful from first viewing, rearranging due to covid, to finally the day itself.
Such a gorgeous venue with views wherever you look, and really incredibly helpful staff who I could tell completely understood that it was the most important day of our lives and did everything they could to add to that. The venue is beautifully decorated, and so in keeping with the surrounding countryside. Felt very lucky to spend our day there

It is so easy to get bogged down in trying to please everyone else on your wedding day and while, of course, we all want your guests to have a wonderful time, don't forget that your wedding day is all about you! If you have your heart set on a beautiful, traditional wedding day then that is wonderful and we will support you every step of the way but don't ever be afraid to step out of the box if you feel like turning traditions on their head and doing things a little differently! We are always on hand to listen, give advice and work with you to create your perfect day based around your bespoke requirements!
