Built in the Georgian era, Clifton Observatory boasts incredible views overlooking Bristol, the Clifton Suspension Bridge, and Avon Gorge. Our recently renovated William West room, named for the Bristolian artist who commissioned our iconic Camera Obscura, combines historic charm with modern amenities: including a stage; DJ booth with PA and AV system; and a gorgeous sparkling chandelier. The William West room also has a licensed bar.
Our 360 Rooftop Terrace offers gorgeous views of the Bristol skyline and also has a licensed bar. The terrace is partially covered by a marquee so that in the case of bad weather, you and your guests can still enjoy the view.
The Observatory Tower leads guests on a historical journey up three flights of stairs to the Camera Obscura. An incredible feat of Victorian engineering, the Camera Obscura still provides a bird's-eye view of the surrounding area after almost 200 years. The viewing balcony of the Giant’s Cave, accessed via a long, steep tunnel that takes you 90 feet underground, offers a unique vantage point of the Clifton Suspension Bridge and Avon Gorge. Not only are the tower and the Giant's Cave perfect settings for dramatic photo opportunities, you can also choose to host an intimate and unique wedding service in either location.
