With 20 acres of RHS award winning gardens and grounds, and luxury accommodation for 28 guests, the award-winning Chaucer Barn makes the perfect year-round private retreat for smaller intimate groups or larger weddings. During the summer, make the most of our Royal Horticultural Society award winning gardens and in the winter enjoy the cosy romance of our beautiful interiors, stunning views and open log fires.
Tailor make your wedding with us. We work closely with an outstanding list of suppliers from caterers to photographers, with no restrictive packages or hidden charges. If you would prefer to choose your own suppliers, we are happy to work with you to make plans to suit your style and budget.
Because no two weddings are ever the same here, we have a unique wealth of experience. You will therefore find our free-of-charge wedding service enormously helpful.
We encourage you to visit the Barn as often as you like so that you can get a feel for what will be a blank canvas, you are most welcome to decorate both inside and outside to your own individual style. We try to do everything differently from the rest of the wedding industry in order that your special day is as unique and individual as you are.
You don’t have to believe in fairies to get married in the woods but it helps!
Venture over the parkland at Chaucer Barn and you will find an enchanted glade tucked into a tiny valley all of it’s own. Surrounded by trees of all shapes and sizes this is the place where many happy couples have chosen to tie the knot.
We have recently added 5 Eco-lodges, nestled in the woodland here. This increases our onsite accommodation to 28.

We are beyond grateful to her for helping make our day so special. And thank you to James for having such a beautifully stunning venue in the first place! We felt so cared for and welcomed through the whole process of having my sister's wedding there. The grounds are truly stunning and so well-maintained. From start to finish everyone was so so helpful and lovely making wedding organisation easy and stress free. Everyone went above and beyond to make our special day perfect in every way! Chaucer Barn also became our home for 4 days and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to relax and have fun. We really didn’t want to leave at the end of the festivities but we will be back to stay in a gorgeous lodge on our anniversary. We can not recommend Chaucer Barn enough. The grounds, house and lodges are absolutely incredible and made our day simply perfect. We had a bit of a stressful morning with the weather, but as it turned Bianca was on hand to set everything right for us. From beginning to end, the whole team were amazing! If you're not staying at the Barn or in one of our Eco Lodges the night before, please allow plenty of time for your journey. We're tucked away in a beautiful rural setting, and it only takes one slow-moving tractor on the country lanes to add a little extra time to your trip!
As you arrive, keep an eye out for our distinctive topiary bushes at the entrance – they're a sure sign you've made it to Chaucer Barn and your celebrations can begin.

Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?
All our weddings are fabulous! Because we offer a completely bespoke setting, each wedding is so very different. It's always wonderful for us to see what the couples have chosen. Our favourite weddings are always the ones that have the really personal touches.
What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Pick the venue that gives you goosebumps and go from there!
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
We held a humanist ceremony in October and the couple had their best friends stand up and read out the first few text messages that they'd sent each-other from when they were falling in love. It made us laugh and cry in equal measure.

Flexible, luxurious, romantic, informal, stunning!
Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
The topiary pyramids are unique in the gardening world and a huge draw for photographs. The Parkland looks amazing in summer with the tall grass-the sunset shots are phenomenal. I also love the Wild Flower Garden for some whimsical romance or the willow archways ...or the topiary. It's too hard to choose!
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
That would be telling!
What’s your favourite canapé?
All of them!
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
Pizza always goes down well with tired dancers. Our blank canvas policy means that you have a huge selection of street food vendors available to choose from.
What is your venue's most unique feature?
A three minute walk through our parkland, lies our, serene Woodland Ceremony grove. Deep in nature, it is pure fairytale magic and the most popular place in all of our 20 acres for our couples to tie the knot!
What part of your business are you most proud of?
We are very proud of the freedom of choice that we give our couples. However, our greatest feature must surely be the 20 acres of award-winning gardens and Parkland surrounding Chaucer Barn.
