Honest Review
We got married in December 2021. Overall we had wonderful wedding which everyone enjoyed. It was the highlight of our year. Becky was our wedding coordinator and she was great and very friendly. The food was delicious. The venue itself is beautiful, particularly the the pavilion and the where we ate. Despite having an amazing time, there were several issues that we would like highlight. We could have just left it and said it was perfect but it wasn’t. We think it’s important that other people who are perhaps looking to get married here should be aware of these issues. • Outdoor lighting was very poor/non existent - hazardous in the evening (the bride banged her head). We were told that the fairly lights would be lit up leading to the pavilion, creating a magical feel, but this was not the case. • All hot tubs were out of action. We would have appreciated prior communication re this as we were looking forward to a dip. The swimming pool was only accessible from 10am on wedding day morning and not the day before. What’s the point? This again was news to us (no prior communication). • We noticed several parts in the house that were dirty (e.g. dance floor and mirrors), even in the bridal suite. • There was insufficient storage in bedrooms. There were rooms where guests had to lay their outfits on the floor. Some rooms that did have wardrobes had bed linen and Xmas decorations, or collapsed shelves. One room had drawers that were extremely dusty and a bedside lamp that had electrical cables hanging. •One of the bedrooms en-suite had a missing piece under the sink so all the drained water went into a bucket. This was unknown to us until the bucket overflowed and the water went everywhere. • We found Debbie (one of the owners) unprofessional, rude and inconsistent with her covid rules. The worst thing that Debbie did was enter the bridal suite whilst my wife was getting ready with her bridal party and exclaimed that we didn’t have enough alcohol for the day. This made my wife feel stressed. Debbie also said that everyone in the room should be wearing a face mask, unless getting lipstick on (isn’t that laughable right?), even though it says at the entrance that you don’t need to wear masks in private rooms. * Wedding days guests bags were rummaged without permission (removing alcohol) and moved to another place without asking. * Everyone entered the dining room through the kitchen not via the entrance which was previously planned (no communication). * Our makeshift wine bottle table plan wasn’t used and instead guests were told where to sit for dinner. * Children’s meals were different from what was ordered. They got a main and a dessert instead of a starter and a main, like was arranged (no communication about the change). * All table wine bottles lids were removed and most discarded which resulted in a lot of wine wasted (around 15 bottles). * We weren’t allowed to use outside fire pit on the evening of the wedding. We were never informed when we can and can’t use certain areas/facilities at particular times (again, lack of communication). * Finally, our last complaint is the most significant. Our ceremony was disturbed by a tractor on the neighbouring farm. In addition to us, our celebrant, wasn’t best pleased as it interrupted his flow and the loud noise resulted in some of the guests nearer the back of the room not being able to hear. Now, we are fully aware that the farm isn’t owned by them and they don’t have control over what they do but there should be better communication between parties. Thankfully it didn’t ruin the ceremony completely, but it was a disturbance and not a memory we wanted to have for our special day. The main trend here is lack of communication. The venue has so much potential which is why we provided feedback directly to David and Debbie (the owners) as well as writing this honest review. We hope this long review is helpful to further bride and grooms who are looking to get married here.
