Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Dramatic, Magical, Emotional, Storytelling, Powerful
What about your business are you most proud of?
Making a difference! You only really know how much your photos mean to you after wedding and my couples are so fab in describing the impact it makes to them. It means the world to me!
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
try not to get too stressed with all the planning and then on the day surround yourself with professionals, let your hair down and have fun!!!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
Seeing photos from the pre wedding shoot dotted around the wedding venue.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
From start to finish it's all about making things simple. Choosing your suppliers is hard enough with so many out there. But essentially it's:
1 Get in touch
2 Check availability
3 Meet in person or skype, book
4 possibly have a pre weddings shoot
5 confirm the wedding day times, locations and group shots
6 Shoot the Day (woo hooo!!!)
7 Post Production
8 Deliver Slideshow
9 Deliver Online Wedding Photos Website with download functionality
10 Deliver USB (and a surprise)
11 Arrange an Album Meeting (if thats what the couple want)
12 Choose the style of album and photo selection
13 Design and proof the album
14 Order the album
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
I love creative storytelling but every couple should have a few photos with their nearest and dearest. Your parents will kill me if I don't get a shot with them! Also there's moments throughout the day when it's right to grab a shot, eg the bride with her parents BEFORE she gets married..... it actually means something at that point in time as opposed to later on!
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
A groom once sent me a sports drink advertisement and asked is we could do something similar on the wedding day. It rocked and I got an ace shot of their eyes, with their faces hidden by their vintage crockery looking straight into the camera. It now hangs in a massive frame in their house.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Have fun, don't worry, theirs always great photos to be found and the rain keeps everyone together rather than spreading out! There's usually more of a party atmosphere on rainy day weddings!
Describe how you got into photography.
Well, quite simply mine and my wifes wedding photos were far below mediocre. Blurry, out of focus images captured at the wrong moment with poor framing by someone who promised us better. But we were on a budget. I wish we'd chosen a full time professional wedding photographer who knew his stuff. On the bright side, I told my wife I could do better, that was in 2007 and 2009 I was trained and started assisting in photographing peoples weddings. In 2015 I celebrated shooting my 400th wedding.
