HOTEL FRAY MARCOS DE NIZA SINCE 1946.
The construction of the Fray Marcos de Niza Hotel in Nogales Sonora began in 1946 and concluded in 1950 due to the shortage of materials caused by the Second World War. In this situation, the desire of Messrs. Jesús Irastorza Fernández, Francisco Irastorza Lavín and Bernardino and Esteban Ibarrola Martínez to create a hotel that would serve the visitors and inhabitants of both Nogales did not diminish.
On June 1, 1950, the Hotel Fray Marcos de Niza was inaugurated, a name that remembers the first white man of the Franciscan order who crossed those lands looking for the 7 cities of Cíbola. At that time the hotel had 100 rooms, 2 restaurants, a canteen and the famous Sky Room ballroom which was located on the top floor, allowing for a beautiful view.
In the Sky Room, the New Year's dances of the service clubs were held and famous artists also performed. Given the great demand for the hotel service, the Sky Room was closed in 1972 for the expansion and construction of more rooms, which They have allowed us to host presidents of the Republic, among other national and foreign personalities.
Today, the traditional Hotel Fray Marcos de Niza is aimed at the business traveler and the tourist who came to visit both Nogales, the hotel has 91 excellent special rooms for your rest, as well as a restaurant, bar, lounge events and a business center with meeting room to satisfy any need of our guests.
