Villa La Spagnuola, home of the Marchesi Gavotti, is one of the very few historic villas on the Italian Riviera with a private sandy beach. Built in 1535 as a watchtower against pirate raids, it later became the family’s noble palace. Family tradition holds that it welcomed the Viceroy of Naples in 1653 and Napoleon and his generals in 1796. Five centuries on, it hosts just one wedding per day, so the villa, park and beach are yours alone.
CEREMONY
La Spagnuola is an official “Casa Comunale”, so your civil ceremony is legally valid in Italy and recognised in the UK, and can be held right here at the villa. You can choose the frescoed salons, the gardens or by the sea. A ring blessing can be held in our private chapel, and Catholic ceremonies take place in the historic churches nearby. Symbolic ceremonies are also welcome.
THE SPACES
YOUR WEDDING, YOUR WAY
We have no exclusive suppliers. We share a list of trusted partners (catering, flowers, music, planners, photographers) who know the villa inside out. You’re equally free to bring your own planner, photographer or caterer; external caterers simply go through a quality check with us first. Menus can be traditional Ligurian or international, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. We have already served multiple Hindu and Kosher wedding with dedicated suppliers. A dedicated on-site team of three looks after parking, guest welcome and facilities on the day.
THE PARTY
No early curfew. Dance on the beach, on terrace or in the cellars with our partner DJs, and keep going past 2am if you wish in the cellars of the villa (an extension fee applies after 12 hour service).

Yes. The villa is an official “Casa Comunale”, so a civil ceremony here is a legal Italian marriage, and the UK recognises it (as well as EU, USA, Switzerland). You’ll need a few documents, including a nulla osta (certificate of no impediment). We’ll walk you through the paperwork step by step.
The Sea Garden opens directly onto our private beach, so your ceremony is held right by the sea or with the foot in the sand and the beach is yours for the whole evening.
