Guesthouse Runcini Full Description
ABOUT US Guesthouse Runcini was born from the passion and love of Pier, architect and climber, who came here thirty years ago from Rome to climb … love at first sight with this ancient village, which he completed with Doda, giving it a new life. The project to recover the ancient village of Gabbio has introduced arduous and unprecedented procedures to preserve its integrity, historicity and to make its units totally anti-seismic. HISTORICAL TRACES The pre-Romanesque village of Gabbio (from the Celtic ”Agobio’, meaning ‘place of encounter’) is only a few minutes away from Ferentillo, in Valnerina, in the green Umbria and is situated in a predominant panoramic position in a particularly mild climate. Due to it’s peculiar position the village was of great importance until the XI century. For the whole period from XI century until the XII century Gabbio was a place of transit and control of merchandises from and to Spoleto. This restoration has taken about thirty years of dedication to work and love by Pier (Pierfederico Runcini), an architect, who has devoted part of his life to this majestic project. The units are located in different buildings, which are located within the same ancient village, the Gabbio, as in a “diffused hotel”. Guesthouse Runcini’s rooms are in stone houses completely restored and made anti-seismic with particular refurbishment techniques, while maintaining the warmth [...]

a place out of this world
A place out of this world, dominated by peace. The beauty of being able to walk in an ancient abandoned village, where each house is now a room, being able to visit the town church independently, private swimming pool. Not to mention the availability of Doda who tries in every way to advise you and make you feel at home. Optimal! Nearby activities: The town is 5 minutes by car from the village, connected by an earth and stone road, which can however be reached very easily.
