Agriturismo Borgo Santa Maria is a 17th-century hamlet of ten restored stone houses, set among olive groves and woodland in the hills of Monteleone d'Orvieto, on the border between Umbria and Tuscany.
The whole borgo can be booked exclusively for your wedding: 17 bedrooms sleeping up to 47 guests, so your closest family and friends stay on site for the whole weekend rather than just the day. No cars circulate inside the borgo, and no one has to drive home at the end of the night.
Civil ceremonies can be held in the garden under the pines, with cypresses behind, or under the covered pergola in the park if it rains - the Comune of Monteleone d'Orvieto can officiate on site by prior arrangement. Symbolic ceremonies can take place anywhere in the borgo: by the pool at sunset, on the panoramic terrace, along the stone lane. Churches for religious ceremonies are five minutes away in Monteleone d'Orvieto.
Two indoor spaces, Sala Cappuccina (60 sqm) and Locanda delle Rose (50 sqm, with its own kitchen), are always offered together as a 110 sqm package for receptions and ceremonies. We seat up to 80 guests for dinner and host up to 120 for a standing reception.
We do not provide catering: couples bring their own trusted caterer, and the kitchen in Locanda delle Rose is at their disposal. What we do arrange are tastings of local produce and wines - Orvieto Classico DOC and Vino Nobile - for welcome drinks and smaller dinners, and we can recommend local suppliers for photography, music and other services.
Outdoor music runs until midnight under Italian noise regulations; after that the party continues indoors in the two halls at a lower volume, so there is no hour at which everyone has to leave.
Between events, guests have the outdoor pool (mid-May to end of September), a Finnish sauna, a wood-fired hot tub, a football pitch, bocce, volleyball and table tennis, an organic kitchen garden to pick from, free Wi-Fi throughout and free parking for 20+ cars, or 40+ for weddings. Well-behaved dogs are welcome.
Casa Fienile is completely step-free, and the park, the pool area and both event halls are accessible; do tell us about specific needs when you enquire.
We are 15 minutes from the A1 motorway (Fabro exit), 20 minutes from Chiusi-Chianciano station on the Rome-Florence high-speed line, 25 minutes from Orvieto and Lake Trasimeno, and about an hour from Rome Fiumicino. Our team speaks Italian and English fluently, with good French and Spanish, and we can arrange interpreters for international weddings.
For weddings the borgo is always exclusive. All ten stone houses (17 bedrooms, 47 beds) and both event halls go to one group, so there are no other guests around. Minimum three nights in high and mid season, two in low season: the set-up day, the wedding day and the day after.

We do not provide catering. For receptions you bring your own caterer, and the kitchen in Locanda delle Rose is theirs to use. What we organise ourselves are tastings of local wines and produce, Orvieto Classico DOC and Vino Nobile among them, for welcome drinks and smaller dinners. We can also point you to local suppliers for photography, music and the rest.
Outdoors, until midnight. That is the national noise regulation and it applies to every venue in Italy, not just to us. After midnight the party moves into the two halls, 110 sqm together, at a lower volume, so there is no hour at which everyone has to leave. And because your guests sleep in the houses around you, nobody has to call a taxi or drive.
Up to 80 seated for dinner and around 120 for a standing reception. Overnight the borgo sleeps 47 across ten houses, from small ones for two up to houses for eight, so the people closest to you stay on site for the whole weekend.
The date is yours as soon as the first deposit arrives, and the borgo comes off the calendar for everyone else. Payment is staged. In high and mid season: 2,000 euro on confirmation, a second and a third deposit of 2,000 euro each, then the balance before arrival. In low season the three instalments are 1,000 euro each and the balance is settled on arrival. The dates of the two middle deposits are set out in your quote.
Partly. Casa Fienile is completely step-free, with a level entrance, a walk-in shower and a ground-floor double bedroom. Limonaia, Forno and Scuderia have accessible ground floors with a small step at the door. The park is flat and can be crossed in a wheelchair on terracotta and compacted gravel paths, and both event halls open onto the main courtyard. The pool has a handrail ladder but no hoist. Tell us what you need before you book and we will find the right combination of houses.
Yes, dogs are welcome. There is a one-off 30 euro charge for extra cleaning, not a nightly one. We have a large park, woodland paths and a shaded area for them. Let us know at booking, keep them on a lead in the common areas, and they cannot come into the pool or the event halls.
