The Drawing Room is ideal for formal receptions, with space for up to 48-50 seated guests. For more intimate gatherings, the Oak Room can accommodate up to 30 guests. We do not have catering so you are welcome to bring in your own caterer and supplies. You are permitted to serve alcohol with the proper permits and insurance (we can guide on you on obtaining that). We have plenty of free parking, Wifi and tablecloths at no charge. Whether you're planning a small ceremony or a cozy reception, YWCA Durham offers the perfect setting for your wedding day. Revenue from the rental of our Drawing and Oak Rooms goes back into our programming for women and children. We are a registered not for profit, so when you book with us, you are giving back!
We can accommodate any hours you prefer, as long as your event ends by midnight. We do ask people to book the room for the entire time they will use it. Most book at least an hour before the event starts and a half hour after it ends. We will set up the furniture the way you want it before you arrive, but you will need to book the time you need to put our decor, food, etc. After the event we expect the room to be left tidy.
We do not have catering. You will have to bring in your own food and all the supplies (plates, napkins, cutlery, glasses, etc.). We have a kitchen but do not permit cooking. The kitchen can be used to put out food, you can have access to a fridge and sink as well. We provide tablecloths in white, navy, lilac, dark purple or grey.

Yes. You will have to purchase a special events permit with the provincial government and public alcohol liability (PAL) insurance with your provider. We can provide links for both of these.
