Montrose House is a romantic, exclusive-use wedding estate nestled amongst the rolling hills of Sutton Forest in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales.
Set across 33 acres, the estate surrounds an original 1860s homestead with established English-inspired gardens, sweeping lawns, meadows, orchards and woodland. From getting ready in The Retreat to your ceremony, garden party, photographs and evening reception, your entire wedding day unfolds in one beautiful location.
Montrose House hosts a limited number of weddings each year, allowing our close-knit team to offer a genuinely personal approach. Couples have exclusive use of the estate on their wedding day, together with dedicated planning and coordination in the lead-up and an experienced event team looking after the details on the day.
Your Wedding Day at Montrose House
Begin the morning in The Retreat, a private preparation space designed for you and your wedding party, with dedicated hair and make-up stations, a private powder room, reverse-cycle air conditioning and everything you need to settle in and enjoy the excitement of getting ready.
Ceremonies take place within Montrose House's beautiful heritage gardens beneath a canopy of established trees. Our ceremony package includes furniture and styling essentials, professional sound equipment and full ceremony coordination. Should the weather have other plans, the historic Carriage Barn provides a charming undercover alternative
After saying I do, the celebration moves into a relaxed two-hour garden party. Guests can enjoy cocktails from the Greenhouse Bar, seasonal canapés, lawn games and elegant outdoor seating while exploring the gardens, as you slip away for photographs around the estate. The rolling paddocks, pine forest, hazelnut grove and rose garden mean there is no need to leave Montrose House for your wedding photography
Your evening reception takes place in Badgery Hall, a character-filled historic space featuring English bond brickwork, soaring ceilings, a heritage fireplace and crystal chandelier. Accommodating up to 130 guests, the hall comes complete with beautiful banquet tables and chairs, crockery, cutlery, crystal glassware, reception essentials, professional sound equipment and reverse-cycle air conditioning.
As the evening continues, guests can move between the reception and the festoon-lit courtyard, gather around the fire pit for a nightcap, or dance beneath the chandelier in Badgery Hall.
Food & Beverages
Food is an important part of the Montrose House experience. Our kitchen team, led by Head Chef Craig Wolland, creates seasonal menus using fresh regional ingredients, with couples able to choose from plated dining, shared dishes or a combination of both. Menus can be tailored to suit your tastes and vision for the day
Our four-course wedding menu includes three canapés, entrée, main and two petits fours, along with a bridal party platter during photography, wedding cake service and complete service staff. Couples can also add experiences such as our Montrose House gelato cart or a late-night supper.
Our beverage package features a carefully selected range of wines, Australian craft beers and a signature cocktail, with a focus on independent producers and cool-climate vineyards from the Southern Highlands. Optional additions include Champagne on arrival, a Champagne tower, additional cocktails, after-dinner digestifs and mixer packages.
