Imagine saying “I do” surrounded by the stunning fynbos valley, with the Langeberg Mountains as your backdrop. Just under two hours scenic drive from Cape Town, in the heart of the Cape Winelands, Pat Busch Mountain Reserve offers a private, breathtaking setting for couples looking to create a truly unique destination wedding for 2 days or longer.
At Pat Busch, you have the freedom to design your wedding exactly how you’ve dreamed. The entire reserve is yours exclusively, giving you and your guests complete privacy. Enjoy a relaxed vibe with very few restrictions—no curfews or sound limits—so your celebration can flow naturally, either under a structure or even under the African Skies.
Whether you picture a romantic ceremony on a jetty overlooking the mountain dam or exchanging vows in a serene poplar forest by a gentle stream, or perhaps in a Pine Forest nestled between two mountains, this venue offers a variety of stunning locations. Other favorites include a lush meadow with sweeping mountain views or beneath the shade of an ancient oak tree. For your reception, you can style the rustic banquet hall or an elegant marquee in the meadow to perfectly match your theme. The ceremony, pre-drinks & reception are generally hosted in 3 separate but distinct areas of the reserve.
One of the biggest perks here is the extensive self-catering accommodation right on the reserve all within walking distance, so your guests can fully relax and enjoy the weekend. Additional onsite accommodation can be arranged with our service providers offering boutique glamping in furnished bell tents setup on our meadow. The reserve comfortably sleeps 60 to 100 guests across several charming options:
Pat Busch isn’t just a venue—it’s an experience. With 2,000 hectares of mountain fynbos to explore, your guests can enjoy hiking, mountain biking, bass fishing, swimming in the mountain dam or saltwater pool, and kayaking. The combination of on-site lodging and outdoor activities creates a warm, communal atmosphere perfect for celebrating your love over several days.
We have hosted smaller weddings, however in our high summer season we will ask that the entire reserve be exclusively block booked irrespective of the size of the wedding. In season we only offer exclusive weddings in that no other guests are allowed on the property while we are hosting a wedding. That said, in our off season or midweek we have previously hosted smaller intimate weddings on a non-exclusive basis (so there would be other non-wedding guests on the reserve), however we would then have to insist on a low key celebration with no loud music so as not to disturb other guests on the property.
Since we are a nature reserve, we are generally not pet friendly - however when hosting a wedding we do allow the wedding couple to bring their furry family members along to the wedding celebration.
Depending on the dates, we can potentially look at only hosting a wedding for 1 day, but it is not recommended since we are situated just under 2 hours drive form Cape Town & hosting a wedding for just a day makes it feel rushed. We do recommend the opposite however, in that couples are encouraged to book an extra day on the reserve in order to truly enjoy the surrounds and spend quality time with family & friends in nature.
