The Guild of Newport is one of the earliest to be established in England and is mentioned
in a document dated 1252. It is therefore one of the most prestigious and historic listed
buildings in the town and where better to hold your civil wedding ceremony.
The Guildhall has its own car park exclusively available for your use on the day.
We welcome any flower arrangements you may wish to bring but as seen in the photographs we do provide some artificial ones, included in the charges, we are also happy for environmentally friendly degradable confetti to be thrown in the paved courtyard.
If you require music during the ceremony, this is also included, (your own taped (Disc) music must be first checked by the Registrar) but we can advise. The Ante-Chamber (or Solar Room) can also be hired for small ancillary parties (maximum 25-30), such as toasts, drinks, canapes and the ‘cutting of the wedding cake’ etc.
In addition to conventional Ceremonies we are happy to accommodate most ’themes’
Both the historic decor inside the building ,the external facade and small herb garden make an
excellent back drop for photographs of the day.
The Guildhall welcomes weddings both large and small, from the discreet ceremony for two,
to a grander affair up to 50 This is indeed a most appropriate setting for any wedding and is
available for Saturdays and Sundays all day and Friday afternoons by negotiation after 1300
hrs. Bank Holidays and Town Council holiday closure times by arrangement.
