Full Description
Built in 1434 by Ralph Cromwell, Lord Treasurer of England, Tattershall Castle dramatically rises above the flat fenlands of Lincolnshire, and is a magnificent statement of 15th century ambition, wealth, architecture and style. By choosing Tattershall Castle as your wedding venue, you will be immersed into over eight hundred years of history. Upon your arrival, you will cross our 100 year old bridges, which provide a perfect moment to pause, and to have some initial photographs taken with the striking backdrop of a medieval castle behind you. You then make your way to the Parlour, with its magnificent high ceiling, intricately carved stone fireplace, and striking stained glass windows, ready to say ‘I do’ in a distinctive and intimate ceremony, surrounded by your friends and family. The Parlour has ramped access, is licensed to hold civil ceremonies for up to 90 seated guests, and can also accommodate a small gathering of musicians (such as a quartet) or additional guests at the back. Following your ceremony, your guests can celebrate with you as you take your first steps in married bliss back down the aisle to the front of the Great Tower. You will then have up to an hour and a half to take stunning photographs in the castle and its grounds; in this time, you can ascend our wonderfully crafted spiral staircase to the battlements, to capture some spectacular views of the perfect Lincolnshire countryside (if your attire allows you to climb the 149 steps up to the top that is). Directly after your ceremony, you can also enjoy a special celebratory drinks reception with your friends and family within the stunningly picturesque grounds of the castle. This can take place on the grassed Inner Ward in front of the Great Tower, in the secluded ruins of the Outer Ward, or, if the weather is less favourable, in the Great Tower’s basement.
