Superb wedding weekend
Just returned from a weekend celebrating my step-daughters wedding at this stunning venue. Family stayed Saturday in the hotel for the wedding on Sunday with all of the rooms filled with wedding guest on Sunday night. We enjoyed a lovely meal in The orangery on Saturday evening, the food was lovely and the staff friendly and helpful - with one lovely staff member even giving one of our guests who was staying in another hotel a lift back! The wedding planner and wedding coordinator and all of the staff were accommodating and patient despite our frequent questions and request and worked tirelessly to make the wedding a huge success. The venue is amazing with fabulous views and the rooms are simply outstanding - every guest commented on just how lovely it was and how much they had enjoyed it. I would recommend this venue to anyone planning a wedding, it has given us some very special memories. Particular thanks to Rachael and Ann, I will always be grateful to you for making our girl’s day so special xx

The best day of our lives
Do not know where to start about our wedding we honestly had the most amazing day and experience. From going to view this venue and then to have our full wedding weekend there it was made the best experience. Special thanks to Rachael my lovely wedding coordinator who I hounded her on the daily 🤦🏻‍♀️😂 but nothing was an issue for her and to Anne, she was amazing all day and made the wedding run so smoothly, all of the guests commented on how brilliant she was. Since the wedding day all guests have commented on how lovely the food was! The rooms where perfect and the venue is just perfect with that beautiful scenery. I would love to thank all of the staff for everything. Myself, Luke and both of our family and friends had the best time and if I could do it again tomorrow I’d love to! Can’t thank the Blackhorse and all staff enough xx

Our wedding - absolutel magical!
Where do I start...this will be a glowing review. I will try to break it down to some of the headlines as I know there's a lot to think about when you are making such an important decision. The venue: This is a superb location in a beautiful setting. The restaurant and bar in the original part of the site are rustic and olde worlde but with a modern twist. The George Ridley room and bar area upstairs is absolutely perfect for a smaller wedding as ours was (32 guests). Exposed original stone walls, wooden beams, original fireplaces - think cosy and authentic. We were really lucky to have excellent weather for November so some guests used the rooftop terrace as well which is a lovely space. I could imagine in the summer that would make such a brilliant option for a drinks reception. The grounds are fabulous. Lots of options for photographs that aren't necessarily the standard posed ones and plenty of freedom if you have any younger ones who need to let off some steam. The marquee is a huge space that retains an elegant feel. Everything you and your guests need is self-contained within there, so bar area, food service and toilets. The views from the marquee are breathtaking and having two sides which are glass panels looking onto the valley makes it very special. The bedrooms are gorgeous and any guests staying over will thoroughly enjoy the experience of staying in one of the fabulous rooms/cottages which feel incredibly luxurious. The food: We opted for 2 choices of each course which we asked guests to pre-order. The kitchen cater for big numbers with as much attention to detail as an intimate dinner. We had also been wedding guests here earlier this year for a very large daytime and on both occasions (both had completely different menu choices), the food was delicious, piping hot and every order was exactly as requested. We received lots of compliments about both our 3 course wedding meal and the food at the evening celebration (fish & chip cones & hot beef sandwiches). The staff: Rachel and the team could not have been more helpful. From our first meeting, Rachel listened and made sure she understood exactly what we wanted the feel of our wedding to be. She was full of helpful suggestions, asked pertinent questions and made sure everything was coordinated and came together seamlessly. Her communication was first class and she was always quick to respond. Ann and her Ops staff were excellent. The venue decoration was exactly as we had pictured it, the food and drinks service was quick, smart and all done with a smile. Nothing was too much trouble. All in all, I would say the staff were what made the biggest difference to us. We knew we were in a beautiful venue, and would be getting great food (two really crucial things of course), but more than that, all of our interactions with Rachel and the team were really enjoyable and also confidence inspiring. When it's your big day and you want it to be so memorable (and let's face it, it's also an incredibly expensive day that you put a huge amount of time and effort into) you need to know you are in safe hands and that was how we felt. I hope my review goes some way to expressing how warm & fuzzy I get when I recall our wedding day. The practicalities were absolutely nailed on, but it was way, way more than that. It was the well wishes at breakfast the morning of the wedding, it was the smile on Ann's face and touch of my hand when my Dad and I were about to walk down the aisle and it was how much our guests enjoyed the care and attention they received too. The staff couldn't do enough to make sure we enjoyed every second of our wedding celebration and I would absolutely, unreservedly recommend The Black Horse at Beamish to you.

Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?

Every wedding has its own special moment so it’s difficult to single out a particular wedding. We think first impressions count and we have had some very special entrances from couples. We had one bride arrive galloping on horseback across the field in front of the marquee. We also had a groom arrive by helicopter in front of the marquee! What a way to start the day!

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

1. Don't be scared to ask lots questions. 2. It's your day, so don't be afraid to be a bit selfish when it comes to things like your menu choices, drink selection and seating plans. 3. Get yourselves a wedding email, often wedding inbox's can be full and it's easy for wedding information to get lost!
