Once a royal residence to King Henry VIII and home to his daughter Princess Elizabeth I, Ashridge House is now licensed for civil marriage and partnership ceremonies for up to 170 guests, couples can choose to exchange vows in a number of breath taking locations. The most popular choice is on the magnificent sweeping staircase overlooking the Grand Hall, however if the sun is shining, using the South Terrace as your stage is a magical option as you can take advantage of the beautiful views to our private gardens. The Victorian Fernery is another lovely venue offering a more intimate feel for smaller weddings. The wedding ceremony, conducted by Dacorum Registrars, can be tailored to suit your special day. We are also able to offer Anglian blessings in our Chapel. Ashridge House has beautiful heritage function spaces perfect for each element of your wedding meaning that your guests will be continually wowed by their spectacular surroundings. Just the most incredible wedding venue
Ashridge House is our favourite wedding venue to shoot. It is absolutely stunning and offers incredible backdrops and spaces ALL year round - with no need to worry about the weather... The events team are also very friendly, efficient and helpful and all the weddings run smoothly and on time. It is also perfectly suited to aerial drone work as it is a stunning building set in the most incredible gardens and grounds.

To anyone considering getting married somewhere unique and beautiful, we cannot recommend Ashridge House enough!
After having to cancel our dream wedding in Sicily due to the global pandemic, we were devastated and didn't think we'd find any venue in the UK that we'd love as much... but then we can across Ashridge House which turned that all around. Whilst the beauty, character and history of the venue is breath-taking, it was the team at Ashridge House that truly made our decision for us. They could not have been more welcoming, kind, flexible and friendly. No ask was too much and they went over and beyond our expectations. They helped bring our vision to life and created the most perfect wedding day. We couldn't have asked for anything more. A special thank you to Natalie Halliwell-Jennings (Events Marketing Manager & Ella Robjant-Boyd (our wedding planner) at Ashridge House for all your hard work and dedication to make our dream wedding happen! To anyone considering getting married somewhere unique and beautiful, we cannot recommend Ashridge House enough!

We cannot express in words how wonderful it was to have our wedding at Ashridge House earlier this year. The staff were absolutely incredible and worked tirelessly to make sure we had the most perfect day. Special mention goes to our wedding co-ordinator extraordinaire Hayley Whitaker who answered every question, listened to every request and supported us throughout the process. She was an absolute star both in the lead up and on the big day itself. We could not recommend Ashridge more highly to anyone wishing to have a more magical fairytale-like occasion.

An unforgettable day
We had an absolutely outstanding and magical wedding experience at Ashridge House in April this year . The wedding coordination and support from Hannah Williams at Ashridge from the point of booking our date right through to after the wedding has been exemplerary and above and beyond our expectations . Nothing has been too much for Hannah and the team at Ashridge and they supported and looked after our every need from the finest detail through to larger scale requirements which included 2 services a civil followed by a Chapel blessing at Ashridge - accommodating our guests a couple of whom are severely disabled - Ashridge is not only fully Accessible for the disabled ( including in the beautiful chapel and grounds ) it also unusually has several disabled rooms . We were absolutely thrilled with our wedding at a Ashridge , the surroundings and the house itself are amazing in all weathers we had rain and sunshine so photos inside and outside and they all look fabulous - Ashridge were excellent with our suppliers and creative with ideas and support for us and the wedding party throughout the planning . The food and historic location is the talk of the town - our guests have not talking about the wedding and how much they enjoyed the day and we were even treated to a historic talk about her estate by Hannah to our guests in the wedding breakfast - so grateful we chose Ashridge for our special and unforgettable day !

Easter wedding at Ashridge
Our daughter and son in law got married at Ashridge House on Easter Sunday and we cannot thank the team there enough. We had the most amazing time. It is staggeringly beautiful there inside the building and outside, the gardens the stately home everything. Hayley the event manager was wonderful in every way. She was absolutely at our beck and call and always available when needed. She made herself fully accessible both in the run up to the day and right till the end. The staff were excellent, happy, helpful, willing and able. The wedding breakfast was sublime, hot when it should be hot temperature spot on. As Mother of the bride I had my anxieties but truly the wedding was flawless. I could not recommend the venue more highly. You are especially lucky if Hayley helps you to organise yours too. Thank you to everybody who made it magnificent. If there was one thing that could be improved it would be the breakfast buffet - the food in there was not hot enough on either morning. But as mentioned everything else was to perfection so we happily overlooked this. Thanks again to all at Ashridge House.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Relax and enjoy your special day, try and be present as it will be over so quickly and you will want to remember every precious moment.

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

We had doves released at a recent wedding, that was pretty special!

Describe your venue in 5 adjectives.

Unique * heritage * castle (although not strictly speaking a castle!) * spectacular * charming

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?

Our Harry Potter staircase! The staircase in the Grand Hall was the inspiration behind the moveable staircase in the Harry Potter movies!

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?

We often have high profile guests at Ashridge House, we are always very discreet though!

Hard to choose as our chefs are so talented, Salmon tempura with wasabi and lime mayonnaise is one of our favourites though!

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

Left over wedding cake! Yum!

What is your venue's most unique feature?

The site dates back to 1283, when it was a monastery founded by Edmund, Earl of Cornwall, in 1539 Ashridge became a royal residence to King Henry VIII and his children. The young Princess Elizabeth I lived at Ashridge, until she was arrested and sent to the Tower of London!

What part of your business are you most proud of?

Ashridge is a truly unique and beautiful venue, it is very special and unlike any hotel or other venue, with its own heritage and charm.
