Full Description
As an Independent Celebrant I have the best job in the World; helping amazing couples who have already legalised their marriage with a Registrar create their celebratory wedding day, and the sky’s the limit on what can be included. Couples will pick this option when, for example, they come from different faiths or beliefs or they have different nationalities. It will be a purely secular ceremony but it will make sure the legalities have all been addressed. It then means that you can embrace as much of your faith or beliefs into your ceremony as you wish and incorporate traditions from each other’s country to truly reflect your incredible individuality. For couples planning their Destination Wedding, Elopement or Vow Renewal, Scotland has got to be one the most romantic countries; whether you are looking to embrace the intimacy of a Handfasting Elopement on the banks of a loch as the sun sets over the hills; planning a wonderful ceremony in a fairytale castle as you are serenaded by a piper, or standing in a Tipi and sharing a Quaich surrounded by friends and family, I guarantee your day will be everything you could wish for. There will be tears, there will be nerves but there will also be joy and laughter as you and your guests have a day to remember forever.

What is your most memorable wedding?

Pagan Handfasting Wedding at Cambusnethan Priory

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Eclectic; Offbeat; Traditional; BoHo; Joyful

What about your business are you most proud of?

Offering a truly personal service; every ceremony is completely bespoke and tailored to the individuality of each couple.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Be true to yourself and your vision; this is your day.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Having children included in a Handfasting Ceremony; as the couple made their vows, their children were standing around them and each handed me a chord as the vows were said. They then held hands with their parents in a circle to make the final vow a family one.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Get to know them and let them get to know me, if we click we can then start really exploring their vision for their day and, in the process, develop a strong trust and friendship. I am their safety net at all times.

What is the most unusual thing you’ve been asked to plan?

Being asked to create a ceremony to combine Pagan and Buddhist beliefs. Really exciting and very enjoyable

How do you ensure a stress-free wedding?

Plan a re wedding run through to make sure everyone knows what they are doing. Being at the venue before anyone else to make sure I am there to support the couple and their supporters

What do you love most about your job?

Throughout the planning process remember to enjoy what you are doing and why you're doing it - take time out to actually enjoy being with each other, after all, your wedding day is the start of the rest of your life. Your wedding is to be enjoyed not endured.

What is your favourite moment at a wedding?

The smiles of relief on the faces of the couple when the ceremony is over.
