Christine Berrisford - Bespoke Ceremonies Leeds Full Description
Your wedding ceremony should be the reason all your friends and family gather together, not something to get through before the party. Wouldn’t it be great to create a ceremony that’s really meaningful? To be able to tell your friends and family what your relationship means to you and why you’re choosing to get married, enter into a civil partnership, make commitments or renew your vows? Many of us who aren’t religious are looking for a wedding that is more flexible and personal than a civil or register office ceremony. A non-religious, humanist wedding gives you the opportunity to marry where you want, when you want and exactly how you want. There’s no set script and no script ‘templates’ – it’s too personal an occasion for that. Instead, your wedding is written from scratch, in collaboration with you, so it meets your particular requirements and truly reflects who you are. You can set the tone that’s just right for you: choose your own words; include music and singing; get creative with symbolic or celebratory elements and include other significant people. Humanist weddings are perfect for couples who would like: * A meaningful ceremony that isn’t religious * To work with a celebrant who has successfully completed a rigorous, OCN Quality Marked training and CPD programme * To marry at a location that isn’t licensed for civil weddings; including outdoors and at home * The flexibility to create a personal ceremony that is unique to them and completely adaptable to their particular circumstances * To get to know the person who will be conducting their wedding * To celebrate their committment to each other with family and friends, but without legally registering it – perhaps they have already undertaken the formalities overseas, for example. * To attend the register office to take care of the legal formalities in the days before or after their humanist wedding If any or all of these things sound like you, then please do get in touch for a chat.

Simply the best!
Christine is simply the best! She was absolutely brilliant from day one and made us feel totally comfortable with her right from the start. She is warm, funny and caring and we couldn't have asked for anyone better. Since our wedding, loads of friends and family have siad to us how personal and touching the ceremony was and many have said it's the best ceremony they've ever been to. We cannot recommend Christine highly enough and we're looking forward to finding excuses to use her services again!

Christine is Amazing
Christine is amazing and I could just leave it at that, but will explain why! She absolutely made our ceremony so memorable not only to us, but our guests. It was so personal and we felt Christine was one of the family by the end! Christine's professionalism, enthusiasm, passion and pride in her work just makes it. I recommend everyone to a humanist ceremony and we will use Christine again in the future for other family events :-). We can't thank her enough for a wedding ceremony that we dreamed of. We were so lucky to find her and many of our guests said how fantastic she was. Thank you again Christine!

I can't thank Christine enough
Christine was absolutely amazing. She helped make our wedding unique to others and perfect in so many ways. Even with the threat of rain during our outdoor ceremony she helped keep us calm! I can’t thank Christine enough for all that she did on the day, even posing with our cardboard bridesmaid! Thanks again Christine!! Will be recommending your services to any newly engaged couples I stumble across! x

Christine is a genuinely lovely human being
We first saw Christine at a friend's naming ceremony. It wasn't really something we'd seen before, but we were impressed by the personal touches the ceremony had. When we started planning our wedding, we'd crossed off a religious ceremony, as neither of us follow a faith. That's when we thought back to Christine and her Humanist ceremony. We got in touch and organised a meet up over coffee, where she came across as organised and friendly. We instantly knew we wanted her to do the ceremony! We met up again a few month later to hammer out the details of the ceremony and she held our hands through all the planning, especially on details where we weren't sure how'd they'd play out! The ceremony came and went without a hitch; Christine even helped organise some of our less clued up family! Many people have told us how nice and "us" it was, which was down to Christine's hard work. Christine is a genuinely lovely human being; she is easy to get on with and I feel like I've known her a lot longer than I actually have!!

Frequently Asked Questions
(9)

What is your most memorable wedding?

The two that were a surprise to all the guests!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Friendly, fun, efficient, calm, warm

What about your business are you most proud of?

The fact that I've had to work incredibly hard to pass the incredibly rigorous training with Humanists UK (the only celebrant network whose training has achieved a Quality Mark) and the fact that every single one of my couples gets exactly the ceremony they want; totally bespoke and deeply meaningful to them - the beautiful, beating heart of their big day.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Plan ahead; discuss everything; assume nothing and remember that it's YOUR day - don'y allow it to be hijacked by others or feel you have to conform to a steriotype of what your ceremony should look like.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Dogs bringing in the rings; children being 'best people'; Grandma's writing and reading poems; friends singing for the couple - every one of my ceremonies is personal from start to finish, as they are written from scratch with each couple, so you can include any element that has relevance and meaning for you.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

This is a bespoke service – I don’t use templates or a ‘mix and match’ buffet of elements: your ceremony is written from scratch, in close collaboration with you. As a prospective client you will be offered a free introductory meeting with me, to see if we feel that we would be a good match to work together on your ceremony. To secure your chosen date in my diary, I ask that a 50% deposit is paid when you confirm that I’m the celebrant you’d like to work with. We then organise to meet for a longer planning meeting of approximately 2 – 3 hours, during which I gather all of the information about what you’d like to include in your ceremony. I will liaise via email with you and with anyone you have chosen to make a reading or other form of input to the ceremony should that be necessary.. I then write the first draft of your ceremony script and email it to you for amendments. When I receive your edits, I write the final version of your ceremony. Once you have confirmed the final copy is accurate, I ask for the remaining payment. I create one ‘working’ version including all the prompts, music cues etc to be used on the day and another presentation copy for you as a keepsake. I then conduct the ceremony on the date and at the venue of your choosing. (For weddings, we can conduct a rehearsal before the big day, if that is something you’d like)

What is the most unusual thing you’ve been asked to plan?

The surprise weddings!

How do you ensure a stress-free wedding?

There will always be some stress, but if you remember it's your day, not everyione else's and you plan carefully and in plenty of time it'll be more excitement than actual anxiety.

What is your favourite moment at a wedding?

Telling the story of each couple - it's a total privilege to have them share all the details of how they met; the trials and tribulations they've overcome; the reasins they love each other and want to share a life. Sharing that with their guests on the day is always a joy - very emotional, sometimes funny and often incredibly moving.
