What is your most memorable wedding?
Every wedding we've done is memorable! That's not a cliche answer, is true. Every wedding has the same components, but our clients, their family and their guests are always very different .... so each one is wonderfully different! Wedding's at the Deep inHull are always that extra bit special I suppose, as it's not every day you capture a shark in a group shot!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Fun. Natural. Personal. Creative. Memorable.
What about your business are you most proud of?
The fact that we provide the perfect and personal visual story from a major life event, that will be enjoyed by people far and wide for many years to come.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Don't waste money on "bits"! Nobody really knows what these "bits" are, but when friends ask how the wedding plannings going, and you reply with "it's pretty much done now, it's just bits!" .... STOP! You really don't need bits!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
As I've done nearly 200 weddings, picking out the best personal touch is impossible I'm afraid!
Describe your typical process with a couple.
Listening and chatting. It's not about what I'm going to take or do on the day as such, it's more about what people have planned, and risking and managing their expectations. Listen to what the clients wants and expects, and perhaps more importantly, what they don't want!
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
A big group shot with everyone who's athlete wedding! I wouldn't be surprised if this answer catches you out, but there's a good reason for me saying this.
For the sake of a few minutes to get a big group shot, it's worth it. At some point we all shuffle from this mortal coil, and although you may not think this kind of shot is important, when you lose people close to you over the years, it becomes an important one. I always say it's better to get the shot and not use if afterwards, rather than regret taking it in years to come when you lose al over one.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
It really wouldn't be appropriate to tell you ..... so let's move on eh! 🤣
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Go with it! There's nothing you can do, so just go with it. The wind cause more issues than the rain to be honest!
Describe how you got into photography.
After a heart attack and realising I needed to do something different and more rewarding with my life. I've not had a single regret in making that choice 9 years ago, and although I'll never be rich doing what I do, I am fulfilled and feel that I'm adding value to each and every wedding I've covered.
